Both Newcastle and Bolton go into this game off the back of a successful start to the new campaign. Whilst newcastle were able to draw 1-1 away to the champions, Bolton easily beat Stoke three goals to one. Quite a lot has been made out of the display newcastle put in against Man United but this game is more important. If the Toon don't pick up all three points on Saturday, last weeks display will have been a waste of time. These are the games which newcastle should easily win and if they play like last week they will.

Newcastle:
Given
Beye
Taylor
Coloccini
N'Zogbia*
Milner
Butt
Guthrie
Gutierrez
Duff
Martins

*I would like to see us play Jose Enrique but i think N'Zogbia will keep his place in the first team.

Bolton:
Jaaskelainen
Steinsson
Cahill
Andrew O'Brien
Samuel
Joey O'Brien
Nolan
Muamba
Taylor
Davies
Elmander

My prediction is a 2-1 win for Newcastle! Cool

What are your thoughts??

Newcastle had a great result against Man Utd last Sunday and they should have the quality to overcome Bolton but I like the signing of Elmander and I think he could easily fill Anelka's shows and become a top EPL striker. The Newcastle defence has been shaky at best in the past but will have a new found confidence on their last match.

I think it will be a close one, I'm going to go with a 1-1 draw.

Im going to go for a 2-2 draw. I reckon Bolton will get a point with Elmander getting both.

Martins and Guthrie with Newcastles goals.

I'm pleased to see the same team line-up ( probably) as the one against Utd. Definately more happier with this seasons signings than last. Gutierrez, Guthrie and Coloccini have already proved to be worthy signings. And should the team perform to the standard that we saw against Man Utd, i feel this game should be quite comfortable for us.

I'm going for 2-0 to Newcastle.

Owen is fit enough to make the bench! Cool
I just bought myself a ticket from a mate who can't make it. The fans who get in the ground before 2.10 get a free pint! Razz Hopefully the team can get three points though!

Yea someone can change the subtitle now.

If omens are anything to go by, we've only lost to Bolton once at home in the last 9 meetings.

Lets hope the players don't put in a rubbish performance on the back of a brilliant one - it's happened in the past and it'll happen again, just hopefully not tonight Sad

2 - 1 to Newcastle. Oba and Milner with the goals for Newcastle.

0-0 at half time.

Duff took a knock and has been replaced by Geremi. From what i've heard Bolton have been the better team Confused

Great result for the lads! Although we were the better team (we were Tom, just Razz), they did not make it easy for us and it was a scrappy game. It was frustrating at times. This was mainly down to Martins. He had a pretty poor first half. He gave the ball away too many times and missed a few chances. However he picked up an injury and was later substituted for Michael Owen. The changing point in the game was when Shay Given saved the pen from Kevin Nolan. This gave everyone in St James Park a lift. The team started playing much better and we started to create more and more chances. One of these chances fell to Owen and he headed in the winning goal (8 goals in his last 10 games!). My man of the match would be Given. He didn’t have that much to do today but he changed the game for us. Jonas Gutierrez was unlucky to miss out on the man of the match. He had another cracking game. He can run all day and he carried on his form against man united. Another player who deserves a mention is Charles N’Zogbia. I criticized him in the last game and he was much better this week. He was our most attacking player in the first half. Him and Jonas linked up very well and he caused their right back many problems. Overall, I am very happy with our start to the season. We are still a few players short and hopefully by the time we play Arsenal we will have some new faces in.

I am happy to pay him that if he keeps fit. Although he is on 103k on his current deal...

Damn right. Owen is a cracking player for Newcastle, and aslong as he can stay fit, they will be dangerous on the attack. Him and Martins are a very lethal strike force. They just need to strengthen in other areas on the field.

Keegan is doing well, and for all the stick many fans gave him, including myself, he is starting to prove people wrong. Regardless of who makes the signings, he has a better squad this season than last. This shows progress, which is exactly what Newcastle need.

Owen's last 10 or so goals have been off his head - who said small players can't head a ball!?!

Guettierz impressed again - he looks very comfortable on the ball and has quick footwork and sees things nice and early which is good when we've got Martins up front with alot of speed.

Roll on Arsenal.

A depleted Arsenal vs. a rejuvenated Newcastle should make for excellent viewing.

Good to see things going well for Keegan.

It does annoy me when people say Martins and Owen up front provides no arial danger.

Tell you what, if we didnt have Given then god knows where we'd be right now. To have such a quality keeper stay so loyal to a club that's not even top 10 atm is something else. I think this is his 16th season for us, and he's never disappointed us. 100% every time he plays, true legend.

Another good start to the season, but then again we had a good start last season, and looked what happened. I'm feeling much more optimistic though about this season.
