Javier Saviola could be used as bait in Barcelona's efforts to bring Diego Forlan to Camp Nou, according to the player's agent.
Barca are desperate to find a replacement for Henrik Larsson, who has returned to his native Sweden to play for Helsingborgs.
Forlan has emerged as their main target but, while reports suggest that the player would welcome the move, Villarreal are sticking to their €15 million (£10.3 million) asking price.

Manchester United striker, but may decide to use Argentine playmaker Saviola as a makeweight.
The 24-year-old will not remain on loan at Sevilla next term, but he has also been informed that he is surplus to requirements at Camp Nou.
Saviola's agent, Alfredo Cabrera Brizuela, has revealed that his man would relish the chance to link up with Juan Roman Riquelme at Villarreal.
"Saviola would be delighted to play alongside him," said Cabrera Brizuela.
"Playing at Villarreal with Riquelme would be great fun for both the players and the fans."
