Macclesfield Town have signed Rob Scott following the defender's release by Oldham Athletic.

Scott had his contract cancelled by Oldham on Thursday, but the 33-year-old was quick to find a new club.

He has signed a four-month deal with Macclesfield, although his debut for the League Two club has been put on hold.

Silkmen boss Brian Horton told the club's official website: "Rob Scott is a great player and will provide a number of options.

"It was important to bring him in as we've been conceding some very poor goals and something needed to be done about it, but unfortunately he won't be able to play against Grimsby tonight (Friday)."

Meanwhile, Horton has allowed young striker Marvin McDonald to join non-league Mossley on a three-month loan.
