Millwall caretaker boss Willie Donachie would like the job on a permanent basis.

Former Manchester City assistant boss Donachie was placed in caretaker charge at Millwall following Nigel Spackman's departure earlier this week.

Donachie helped Millwall to a 1-1 draw against Brentford on Tuesday night and he admits he would like to stay in charge full-time.

"I have told the board and the chairman that I want the job," said Donachie. "I believe that I can do it and it is now in their hands.

"This is a results business and as long as I keep picking up points then I`m sure that I will be in with a chance of being given the job on a full-time basis. It is a big job, but I'm up to it.

"It has been difficult for the players after Nigel left but I was pleased with their attitude and the performance."
