I think the Patriots will be too strong in the end!!!

GO NEW ENGLAND

Big game with a whole lot to talk about. Let me put in my two cents...

Patriots: New England are the most dominating team I've seen since the recent Minnesota Vikings and the late-90s Broncos. The scary thing is, the Patriots are 18-0 and they just seem to be rolling along, no problem. They have a strong and dynamic offense which can beat you in so many ways:

-Tom Brady: It all starts with the golden boy. Brady dissects the defense like a dead frog and can find the holes to make the passes. Granted that the Chargers found a way to pick at his passes in their AFC Finals meeting, Brady found a way to grind it out and get a victory. Despite throwing three turnovers, he was able to throw for 209 yards and two touchdowns. He finds a way to win and that's why the Patriot offense is so potent.

-Laurence Maroney: He has been red-hot in the post-season and against the Chargers, ran for over 100 yards and scored a TD. He has been the ace up the Patriots' sleeve and they're not afraid to use him. He creates the space needed to open up Brady and the passing game. If they strike a balance, the Giants will struggle.

-Wide Receivers: Everybody talks about Randy Moss, and he is the biggest name in the New England receiving team, but it's not all about him. Wes Welcker and Kevin Faulk are just as effective and they are hard-workers who get the first downs when they need them. The three of them combined are scary as the Giants secondary will struggle with double coverage on Moss without leaving holes for Wes and Kevin to run through.

-Offensive Line: Probably the biggest and baddest offensive line in all of football. They give Brady so much time to settle in the pocket, and they create paths for Maroney to gain big yards. The offensive line is very underrated in the NFL but I think if they can manage to slow down Strahan and the Giants D-Line (which I think they will), they will have no problems running up the score to get a big win.

Key to victory: Balanced offense. If the Patriots manage to establish the running game early, they'll tire out the Giants defense just enough for Brady and his receivers to beat them through the air.

Giants: The only way I can see the Giants winning is with their defense. Their secondary has to do to Brady whatever they did to Favre, and keep the Patriots at bay. I don't think the Giants will survive out-gunning the Patriots as they do not have the depth to keep up with a high-powered offense that is New England. I'm not sure, but I think they'll have to go into a lot of zone coverage because I don't see any Giants player who can take the Patriot receivers man to man. It's gonna be tough, but they've made it this far and they have to lay it all on the line. They are huge underdogs here, but they have beaten some great teams to get where they are. It doesn't matter if they play home, away, or in a neutral ground, as this is a confident team who know that they can give the favorites not only a scare, but to beat them. Manning has been a revelation as he is playing superb football for his standards and he keeps his team winning. He finds a way to move the chains and this is a completely different Ely Manning from the one we've seen in the last few seasons. He has managed to avoid throwing turnovers, and he is confident enough in his game to perform at his potential. He'll have to get them into very good field position in every drive because we've all seen that the special team is capable of some epic blunders - granted that they delivered when it counts. It'll take much more than one lucky kick to beat New England. They'll have to deliver whenever they are in good field position, especially in the red zone. We'll just have to wait and see if the grown up Ely Manning will show up, and not the scared one we've all gone to label him as.

Key to victory: Confidence. The Giants have to believe that they can beat the Patriots, and they can't listen to the media and the bookies who have them as huge underdogs. They've been underdogs this entire post-season, and they have to step their game up into the highest gear they have possible in order to keep up with the Patriots. If they go into the University of Phoenix Stadium with the same swagger they brought to Tampa Bay, Dallas, and Green Bay, then I have to say that they can very well pull out an epic victory and beat the Patriots.

I think the Giants have enough in them to deliver an impressive performance against the Perfect Pats. They know that the pressure is on New England with both the title and their perfect season on the line, and they will try to take it as an opportunity to attack early and often in the first half. That said, I am picking the New England Patriots to win the Superbowl over the New York Giants 34-24. I am rooting for the Giants here, but as much as they can give the Patriots a run for their money, the experience of the Pats will prove to be the factor that will push them over the top and get a win. I think the Giants will lead at halftime by at most one score, and I'm looking at the Patriots to tire out the Giants defense and finally take the lead for good.

GO BIG BLUE!

I could not sum it up any better than the above to be honest, credit to Mrtz for an outstanding post that tells you all you need to know about the matchup.

As a Titans fan i obviously do not have allegiances with either team involved in the game but as always it will be a fantastic spectacle and i am very, very much looking forward to it.

And being an Englishmen it is the norm to root for the apparent underdogs.

So for one night only, Go Giants!

mrtz

Ah, yes of course, this Giants allegiance is for one night only, and only because I live in the great state of New York as opposed to New England. ,;) My first home in the U.S. is still the South-west and that is why I'm with the Denver Broncos, regardless.

I don't know, i think it will be close because i've just read that, Giants 35-38 Patriots on december 29th 2007, it was only few weeks ago. I suppose the Patriots played at home in this match.

Who will do a show during the half time this year ?

NEW YORK GIANTS.

Let me just take this opportunity to remind Americans that it is not football as you dont really use your foot. It sounds a good sport with the cheerleaders an all, but you need to stop calling it football.
There, I said my piece, now I can shall never return to this thread again.

GO BIG BLUE!

They did. Defense won this one for the Giants. They neutralized Tom Brady and the receivers and only Wes Welker was able to help out the team. Superb showing by the Defensive line.

MVP Eli Manning was superb. Despite throwing one interception, he pulled through when it mattered. How he escaped the sack late in the game and throw a deep pass, I'll never know, but that has to be the play of the year.

They were confident. Their players called the win, and they did. They talked the talk, walked the walk, and now they're champions of the world.

Although my prediction was wrong, I could be happier for Eli, The Giants, and the state of New York!

I think its good for the sport that the pats didnt win every game because now all the other teams feel its still possible to become the best ever team, if pats won every game you could only match them not beat them.

Shocking. Knew NY would win. Their kicker, Lawrence Tynes is a massive Celtic fan. Born in Glasgow. I rooted for those guys but passed out at half time. I was buzzing for it too. Think I'm an official NFL fan now

Good to hear Rone!

Superb spectacle and a hard fought game that had it's share of superb excitement. Chuffed for the Giants and Manning in particular, and you've got to laugh at the Pats going the whole season undefeated yet to fall at the final hurdle.

It'll be us next year!

Bahahahaha.

"They tried to just bully us around," Toomer said. "We're a more physical team than them, and it showed today. We punched them in the mouth, and they didn't want anymore."

"As Mike Tyson would say, 'Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face.' "

I've liked this Super Bowl because as in the final Packers Vs Giants, we've to wait the end to know the winner. After the touchdown of the Patriots, i thought it was finished but Eli Manning have taken some risks and the match have turned to end on a win of Giants. Very big defense of the Giants, Brady have not time to throw the ball. Manning took more risks, he was sometimes lucky but he was great. He wanted to win it and to be the successor of his brother who won it last year. ,8)

The Patriots didn't brake the record, it was our only defeat of this season, and a defeat that come at the end of the match. :(

The commentators have said that Patriots have older players with more experience than the Giants, and the Giants have few young players, it's good for them for the future.

In France we have not many commercials during the match.

Next year should be even more exciting as the Patriots will be out for blood.

They might be out for blood, but there's a big chance they won't be nearly as good as they were this year.

- Will they resign Moss and show him the money or will Moss settle with less money to try for a ring?
- Will they have replacements for the aging Seau and Bruschi? (both free agents)
- Will they resign Asante Samuel?
- What will come of Bilichick after Congress reopens spy-gate. There's already talk of a possible year suspension for him if in fact he did do something in the Super Bowl against the Rams.
- How will they respond to this emotional loss. (I'm sure they'll bounce back just fine, but they won't be as good as they were)

If the Colts can stay healthy. I still feel they'll be in the top 2 or 3 to make it next year. They played the whole year without Harrison, so that hampered their offense a lot. And then they lost Freeney to a season ending injury, which hurt their defensive line. Not to mention the other countless injuries in key positions.

I hope the Patriots suck next year too.

I do like the Red Sox though. There's no way I can sit here and say I hate Big Papi and Manny.

And for the Celtics, I'm neutral on it. Garnett of all people in the NBA right now truly deserves a ring.
