View Full Version : Grimsby Win sees them go top of the league

Michael Reddy's second-half strike was enough to take Grimsby to the top of League Two, at the expense of Boston.
The Irish striker volleyed Andy Parkinson's cross past Conrad Logan from close range.

Boston should have taken the lead in the first half when Jamie Clarke forced Steve Mildenhall into making a save.

United's Chris Holland fired over the crossbar from close range, while Boston boss Steve Evans was escorted from the dug-out by police in the second half.

Thanks to the BBC for this analysis

With Wycombe drawing 2:2 with mansfield and Leyton oriend being held to a 0:0 draw with Carlisle it Means Grimsby now go 2 points clear at the top of the table and even more importantly for me we seem to be getting some sore of home form back. Just hope we can still be there at the the end of the season.

I'd also just like to thank Russel Slade for not selling Michael Reddy in the transfer window as he has scored the winning goals in the last 2 games.

Come on Town!!

I hope that Grimsby play in League 1 next season and that you can play against your rival :D (Scunthorpe I think).

And in two years in the Premier

Yeah that would be amazing and then i 3 years the Champions league.

Well i can dream anyway!

Yes you're right Scunthorpe are the big rivals along with Doncaster who are also in the same league.

I also hope you go back to the league you belong in, maybe you should be even higher. I also hope Wycombe get promoted, after the start they made they deserve it.

Thanks Hoopy,

i agree we're a Division 1 side. I'd take a prolonged spell in that league before we try and go higher though as we've had a turbulent last few seasons to say the least.

Yeah Wycombe deserve it but they can finish second behind the mighty mariners ,;)

Well Wycombe got the points last night so the league is very open at the moment, I wouldnt put money on any of the top 3, anything can happen in this league from now until the end.
Good league to watch.

I would like to see Grimsby go up.
They gave a good game last week, despite the referrees shocking decisions for both teams.

Good luck Grimsby

Quite frankly Grimsby should go up - it wasn't long ago they were in Division 1 (old)

18-02-2006, 03:22 PM
Yes Dan, I have also said before I still think of them as a Division 1/2 (old) team. I think they will work there way back up.

Shame about their game getting postponed today.

Thanks guys.

Would love for us to go up and hold our own in Division 1.

Don't want them to go up. But with their quality they should!
