TheFA.com can confirm this morning that Hope Powell's England will take on reigning European and World Champions Germany in an International Friendly on 25 October.

The game will be played in Dresden, in Eastern Germany and will be broadcast live on ARD television. Kick-off is 6pm (CET).

England last played Germany in September 2003, when two goals from Birgit Prinz and a goal apiece from Renate Lingor and Maren Meinert secured a 4-0 victory in Darmstadt.

Nine players in the squad for last night's World Cup qualifier against Hungary featured in that game, and the fixture will certainly provide The Three Lions with an incredibly strong test against Silvia Neid's side.

In ten games between the two countries since 1993, the Germans hold a 100% record. In 1997, England hosted the Germans at Preston North End and lost 4-6 in a game that is notable for two of the goalscorers; Hope Powell and Sue Smith.

Until the first match of Euro 2005, the highest attendance for an England Women's International was also against Germany, when 14,107 witnessed a 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park in 2002

Na ja!!! I NEED to go to this!!! Razz

German practice AND football... that is a golden combination Cool

Plus, it would be so fantastic to be there shouting for England. I bet the girls would love it, to be able to look into the crowds and see a pocket of red/white and England flags. I'm sure it would spur them on Smile

If possible I will go... I would love it...

I'm going to Germany for the game. Just looking into flights at the moment. Seems like flying into Berlin might be the order of the day, although I think Leipzig could be a possibility. All I need to do now is brush up on my German skills Very Happy

According to the German FA website the venue for the game was changed today. Germany vs. England will be played in Aalen instead of Dresden, as there are ongoing construction works in the stadium Rudolf Harbig. Aalen has already been used as a venue in the European Championship 2001.
