Nationwide Women's Premier League
Everton 1-0 Charlton Athletic Already missing their England midfielder Katie Chapman, Charlton had to start the game without England striker Eni Aluko due to travelling difficulties. Aluko, whose journey had been delayed due to a train cancellation, played only the last 20 minutes of a dour game. Neither side looked likely to score until McDougall neatly headed home from an 85th minute free-kick by England midfielder Fara Williams. |

From BBC:
Everton clinched the Nationwide Women's Premier League runners-up spot with a 1-0 win against Charlton Athletic. Midfielder Kelly McDougall's late winner gave Everton second place behind Arsenal, with problem-hit Charlton having to settle for third spot. Already missing their England midfielder Katie Chapman, Charlton had to start the game without England striker Eni Aluko due to travelling difficulties. Aluko, whose journey had been delayed due to a train cancellation, played only the last 20 minutes of a dour game. Neither side looked likely to score until McDougall neatly headed home from an 85th minute free-kick by England midfielder Fara Williams WELL DONE!! |

I don't dislike Charlton, but its just nice to hear Everton do so well - in all the reports I'vbe read in newspapers this year its all been about either Arsenal or Charlton, so it is interesting to hear theres another team chasing their heels, if that makes sense (I usually don't make much sense |

You make a lot of sense
It's a bit of a shocker - Charlton were supposed to be a danger for us, were supposed to be the ones who - if not Arsenal - would win the League and the FA Cup. And now not only they failed to achieve that, they even couldn't stay at the 2nd spot. And I understand losing to Everton, but Birmingham?! I wonder what happened with to Addicks Such a strong team throughout the season, and suddenly they just collapsed... |

I was just thinking about Everton today and I started to wonder -- how many teams from the English premier league go into the Women's Uefa Cup?
Only one team go through to the UEFA Cup and that is the winners of the league, which this season is Arsenal!!

That's good cos I love the away games abroad. Actually it is easier to go to game abroad than in UK with regards to finding the stadium

There was a great atmosphere at the ground, Everton were very nervous and it showed. Charlton never really troubled Brown yes I am biased but Everton deserved to win with Cope keeping Charlton in the match, but she could do nothing with a fantastic diving header by Kelly Mac whizzing past her into the Charlton net, David Beckham would have been proud of the cross that Fra Williams sent in. You could see what it meant to the Everton players when they all dived on top of Kelly Mac after she scored the only goal of the game!
Picture I took of the Everton piley on! |

I've not been to a game abroad yet, but it's probably easier to find a stadium in the middle of the Gobi desert than to find the place where Arsenal played at Donnie Belles in the last game of the season. We eventually went to where we thought the game was to be played, and nothing was happening (and, we found later, we weren't the only ones to go there first). When we arrived at the real arena, it was only the fact that the Arsenal coach was sitting outside that confirmed we were at the correct place. There weren't even any goalposts up on the pitch - they wheeled them on before the kick-off. And - nice pic from the game I missed ( |

Been to Djurgarden and FFC Frankfurt away and had no problem finding the stadium whereas some away games in the UK is horrible.
