Non violent protests are fine, but I do not condone violence in any way and neither does www.football.co.uk

If you are planning on going, then please use common sense and if any violence kicks off, leave immediately.

Well put, and I totally agree!

The takeover is done - get over it! Im a United fan and to be quite honest, I am not looking forward to seeing what he does for us. We have been stagnent over the last few seasons, so a shakeup was needed. Now Fergie knows he is not in the cumfortable position he was with the old board. He now needs to earn his place at the helm of United also.

Give Glazer a chance. He is a business man who capitalised on Uniteds mistake. Martin Edwards is the person to blame for putting us on the Stock Market - and a takeover at some point was innevitable.

obviously for the united 'fans' who sit at home watching games on television are bound to be looking forward to see what happens as it doesnt affect them in the short term, but as a season ticket holder the prices are set to increase greatly not only for tickets but for merchandise around the stadium the world famous Old Trafford is set to become known as a huge billboard for advertising such as 'the vodafone stadium' and personally going from one of the richest clubs in the world to a club greatly in debt ovenight is not really anything to 'look forward' to in my perspective.

Are you telling me you are not looking forward to the new season? At the end of the day, what exactly are you muppets hoping to acheive standing outside the stadium with violent protests? You try and come out saying you are the hardcore United fans, but fans would stick by the club through good and bad. If United went on to win the double next year, you would all forget about the Glazers. You have not given them any chance at all, and you don't even know what the plan is. Forget the media. If United start to become successful, you will soon see a media U-turn in regards to him as the owner.

Glazer is known for being a winner. If he was an abramovic, you wouldnt care what the stadium was called, or what the prices were, as long as money was being pumped into the club. Fickle fans thats all you are. Give the guy a chance.

Tell me what exactly Glazer has done wrong?
Tell me what he or his sons have done to deserve to be violently attacked with Eggs and verbal?

I will be a united fan for ever more. All the b0ll0cks about starting up the non league club too is pathetic. Take a long hard look at yourselves and see how pathetic you actually look. Take this on the chin, and get behind the boys instead of causing disruption and mayhem. The players need fans backing more than ever, and all these protests are only going to cause more distraction to the start of the season.

I totally agree with that O Dogg. He hasnt done much wrong and nobody has given him a chance. The fans are making things a lot worse than they are and are really annoying me now. Especially Shareholders United. No matter what Glazer does, they always need to find something wrong with it.
Just give him a chance and stop complaining. If youre a real fan then just support your club

I agree, true fans would support their players, management and club no matter who owns the shares.

Did you see that the 2 fans who were arrested were 15 and 19 years old?, just kids out for some fun. I bet they didnt give a s**t bout the issues as they see em, just want a bit of fisticuffs.

Also, Shareholder United's "strategy" of protest of not buying merchandise or food at the ground etc. in order to point out that the debt incurred by GLazer might send the club under is ludacris. Its a self-fulfilling prophecy, ofcourse it is going to go under if you cut out its sources of income you idiots.

But it will be your fault, not Malcolm Glazers. Can you live with that? Sending oyur own team that you supposedly love so much down the tubes.

What gets me is this Sean Bones bloke and some of the stuff he's coming out with...

"The Glazer family are the enemies of Manchester United," said Shareholders United vice-chairman Sean Bones.

"We find them disgusting and repulsive. They may have captured the club but they only have it on a temporary basis.

"It might take a long time, maybe two or three years, but we are showing Glazer that we won't give up.

"In the long-term the Glazer brand will be suffocated. The previous Manchester United brand was peerless in terms of sporting brand names.

"The Glazer brand is toxic and tarnished, uncool and unstylish. Glazer will lose the war."

Jeez!!! Who does he think he is?? He sounds like Bin Laden a week after 9/11!!! This is probably his personal dream, just to be important for a week or two before scuttling back from where he came from!! Maybe he should stop to realise what a merchant he sounds like....

Another thing is that United have been for sale on the stock exchange for years so eventually it was likely someone would buy the club. The fans then complain that Glazer shouldnt be allowed to buy the club....

open your eyes, what dfo you mean by the media slaggin glazer off, granada reports the other night was so bias i felt the need to complian:

Dear Sir/Madam,

There is no way a truce should be called with the Glazer's. Their
spectacular arrogance in the face of rabid hatred never ceases to amaze
me,
and is only matched by the arrogance of people like Sir Bobby Charlton
who
feel they have the authority to apologise on behalf of Manchester United

supporters. The actions of greater manchester police last night were
nothing
short of disgraceful as shown by many [unedited] tv pictures on other
channels. To dismiss the peaceful protests of supporters which descend
into
violence only because of the police smacks of lazy, corrupt journalism.
Granada Reports has dropped in my estimation.

Tell me one thing, what do you hope to acheive with these protests? Glazer is not going to leave after investing so much into the club. So apart from causing disruption what exactly is your plan? By writing a letter like that, I just get the oppinion that you are an attention seeking bafoon to be honest.

What makes me angry is the fact United need to get off to a flyer this season. They need to be quick out of the starting blocks and they need the fans to get right behind them. Don't you think if this carries on you protestors are going to be a distraction? Are you going to be getting behind the team during a game, or will you be to busy protesting?

Surely you are not taking a blind eye to the Newspaper articals right up to the takeover, all stating what a bad move this, and how damaging it will be for United etc? Or were you out of the country for that time period?

As for you slagging off Charlton, the guy is a legend at Old Trafford, and has earned the right to speak on behalf of the club. You people were an ebarrassment the other night, and went way over the top.

I for one applaud each and every person courageous enough to protest against the sickening American takeover of one British football's crown jewels. It is not just a question of result. Even if you can not change that Glazer buys a club you can make him know he is not welcome.

If this happened in Germany I would not be surprised if we passed a law to remedy the situation, as we did after the Vodafone/Mannesman disaster. Such protests are a first step to address the situation.

The Irish betrayal by MacManus and Manier, who gave Glazer the controlling interest, is a disgrace.

On the other hand this is a fitting punishment for the ill-deserved Man U victory over Bayern some time ago.

Having said that, I would not want to wish this american dumbing down upon any club, not even our worst enemy. America should stick to what it does best, meaningless soaps, hollywood distortions of history and invading countries.

This guy has hit the nail on the head.

Quote:
By Phil McNulty
Chief football writer

Joel, Avi and Bryan Glazer had a first-hand look at what their father Malcolm's £790m had bought him as they toured "The Theatre of Dreams."

They won over arguably Manchester United's most iconic figure, Sir Bobby Charlton and were pictured alongside a smiling Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Glazers looked at home with United's previous power brokers.

The brothers, however, also sampled the anger and passion their buy-out has provoked among sections of United's massive support.

They had to leave their new footballing home in police vans as officers in riot gear mobilised against 300 protesters.

It was the climax of weeks of unrest - unrest that ended in the almost unprecedented sight of that most protective of Old Trafford legends Charlton apologising for the behaviour of supporters and chief executive David Gill in equally critical mood.

The anti-Glazer protesters, fearing United will be taken away from the supporters and weighed down under heavy debts, have every right to voice their fears.

Those who deliver the message eloquently deserve to be heard and respected.

But those who chant "Die Glazer Die" and clash with police?

They have made their point forcibly and passionately - but their cause is harmed by the scenes witnessed at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

And the brutal truth is that this protest has probably now gone as far as it can without causing damage to the image of Manchester United.

Fans not won over by Glazer vow

The protestors say they will not go away - but neither is a man who has put together a £790m package to buy the club.

Glazer's family emissaries will no doubt report back on what they saw, but their father is highly unlikely to weaken on the basis of these protests.

He is more likely to be heartened by the news that men such as Charlton, Ferguson and Gill now appear to be very much onside as a result of their talks with his sons.

And similar positive messages have emerged from inside the Football Association.

Sir Alex Ferguson has now met his new bosses

So now it is surely time for the protesters to actually see the Glazers in action.

See their plans unfold. See if they turn Manchester United into even more of a cash cow than it already is. See if their arrival means a reduction in ambition.

And see if a twisted logic applies whereby a man pays almost £800m for a product with the express intention of making it unsuccessful.

If any of the above apply, then Manchester United's fans have every right to peaceful protest.

Until then, all those in power should be allowed to get on with the only thing that actually matters to 99% of all football fans.

Namely producing an environment conducive to winning football matches.

The true acid test will come once the season starts - especially if the head of the all-powerful Glazer clan decides to visit Old Trafford.

But the Glazers have publicly stated that United will be as competitive as ever in the transfer market, will not be party to excessive price rises and will respect OId Trafford's traditions.

Is it such a sin to take them at their word until they demonstrate otherwise?

Until they stray from their public message, surely it is time for peace to break out and prevent a potentially damaging split with a section of the club's followers?

And the romantic notion of United as an all-embracing club of the people is based on shifting sands at best.

Their greatest successes came after they opened themselves up to market forces by going public.

And the "not for sale" cry has a somewhat hollow ring at this mega-rich and mega-marketable club.

The concerns of supporters are justified, but now it is time to actually see the Glazers in action as opposed to protesting against what fans fear might happen.

Glazer has been portrayed as a bizarre, reclusive character almost intent on doing damage to Manchester United.

No-one professes to seriously know what Glazer's true motives are - but suggesting he will risk so much to simply run the club into the ground will not be one of them.

The proof will come in subsequent weeks. Until then it is time for a truce to be declared.

i'm all for giving the Glazers a chance, united has been around for about 127 years and has been in private ownership for atleast 90% of the time.

but the united fans like the ones who protested should make the glazers feel like they're sitting on a porcupine not a gold mine.

16th !!! I wish , seriously anything less than the Premiership title or the Champions League would be a failure for United . It would all be blamed on the Glaziers of course and not Alex Ferguson who actually runs the team . Still as long as Arsenal finish above them and Chel$ki who cares !

I'm very inclined too agree with Sieg.

If someone foreign comes in to take over a UK football club, they should at least be from a country with a tradition in the sport, and not just a country who use it mainly for financial reasons, eg USA, Japan.
At least Abramovich seems to love the game, and he did put his money into a team who were going to win the prem sooner or later, which is why a Gooner such as I feel proud that we have such a good side, with some great success, without all these shenanikins.

Thankyou to all United Fans
