Here's the list of 23 french football payers for WC in Germany

Goals :
Fabien Barthez (Olympique de Marseille), Grégory Coupet (Olympique Lyonnais), Mickaël Landreau (FC Nantes Atlantique).

Défenseurs:
Eric Abidal (Olympique Lyonnais), Jean-Alain Boumsong (Newcastle United FC), Pascal Chimbonda (Wigan), William Gallas (Chelsea FC), Gaël Givet (AS Monaco), Willy Sagnol (FC Bayern Munich), Mikaël Silvestre (Manchester United FC), Lilian Thuram (Juventus Turin).

Milieux de terrain:
Vikash Dhorasoo (Paris-Saint-Germain FC), Alou Diarra (RC Lens), Claude Makelele (Chelsea FC), Florent Malouda (Olympique Lyonnais), Patrick Vieira (Juventus Turin), Zinedine Zidane (Real Madrid).

Attaquants:

Djibril Cissé (Liverpool FC), Thierry Henry (Arsenal), Franck Ribéry (Olympique de Marseille), Louis Saha (Manchester United FC), David Trezeguet (Juventus Turin), Sylvain Wiltord (Olympique Lyonnais).

Some surprises as Dhorasoo and Diarra instead of Johann Micoud & Ludovic Giuly

However, Franck Ribery will go in Germany ... good choice !!!

And you ... what d'you think of this squad ?

I don't know Chimbonda and lots of people in France dunno too ... it's a surprise obviously ... but the presence of Dhorassoo is the biggest surprise ... i'ts the worst thing !

Since it's yet to be mentioned, I suppose I'm the only one that finds Fabien Barthez picked to start over Grégory Coupet as a very shaky choice? Barthez has seen his better days, and can be downright disastrous at times......

Gregory Coupet did a better season than Barthez's ... Fabien Barthez is a good goalkeeper but Coupet too ... it's difficult to pick anywise ... but for me, THE bad choice is Vikash Dhorassoo instead of Johann Micoud and Alou Diarra instead of Ludovic Giuly

Basically Barthez has never let down France in a competitive tournament i.e. 98 00 02 04 and that is impressive no mistakes in 4 big ones. That's why he has been chosen, regarding the starting eleven

Barthez

Sagnol Thuram Gallas A dix balles ( easy joke I know)

Viera Makelele

Zidane

Wiltord Henry x

x between malouda dhorasso trezeguet saha

As far as Barthez goes, I hope you guys are correct for not only your sake but for France's as well, but I'm convinced that Coupet is currently the better of the two, and the only way it will be proven is at the cost of the team.....Again, I hope it doesn't happen.....

Agree with you, oranje. I think Coupet is better and more reliable than Barthez.

Vegeno, I think Trezeguet must be in. I heard that Domenech is the master of bad choices, so we can expect anything.
Personally, I would love to see:
Saha, Trezeguet, Henry at front, Zidane , Makalele and Vieira in the midfield, defence Gallas, Sagnol, Thuram and x ( please no Boumsong or Silvestre ).
France wont be an easy team to beat.

I think Coupet is better than Barthez too ... Rolling Eyes

Raymond Domenech is the master of bad choices indeed ... he didn't choose Anelka, Micoud, Giuly and Pires and had preferred Alou Diarra, Trezeguet and Dhorasso

Trezeguet doesn't score in France's team anymore ... this player, according to me, haven't to play in France's team ... with Juventus, he scores but not in France ...

In your plan, there is only 3 midfielders ... You forget Malouda and instead of 3 strikers, I'd put Sylvain Wiltord (midfield and at front) ... he's a player capable of running elsewhere.

About defense, X will be Abidal or Boumsong ...

In France, Midfield is worrying for Zidane is about tired and Dhorassoo is incapable of replacing him

Trezeguet is a very good finisher. A week of training with all the squad can bring back his magic in the world cup.

Boumsong is not a good choice.

By the way, I dont see Benoit Pedretti on the list. Is he injured? Wasnt he supposed to be the next zidane?

He finishes surely with Juventus but not with France's team ... Djibril Cisse's scored more goals than Trezeguet during qualifs ...

Very Happy Benoit is a good player but not the new Zidane ... !!! lol

I think he's injuried because he didn't play the last matchs with Lyon during Ligue 1 ... anywise, Johann Micoud was probably the only one capable of replacing Zidane suring WC

Pedretti did not play a lot for Lyon this year, also he is big headed and such a big ego does not go well with other players.

I reckon he was suspended for some games and that could explain it. Cisse has more pace, but he squanders too many clear chances.

It's a way of thinking but me, I dislike Trezeguet for he doesn't know anywore how to score with France's team ... Nicolas Anelka would have been a better choixe ... Right that Thierry Henrt is a great player but in France, it's hard for him ... Surely that Trezeguet "suffers" from a similar evil but sincerely, Thierry is a king !!!

mdrrrr .... Very Happy Zidane is out anyhow ... with or without him, our team remains the same one ...
