Double For Hibernians

The Hibernians women's team secured the double after beating Melita 4-0 in the Women's Knock-out final which was played at the National Stadium on Friday 19th June.

This is the third double for Hibernians after winning the Women's League and Women's Knock-out in season 2000/01 and 2003/04

Undoubtedly Hibernians have been the most successful club so far after winning eight successice championships sicnce 1998/99 and the Women's Knock-out on three occasions. Very Happy

--------

We went through a 17 game winning streak this season, scored 129 goals in both competitions and conceded just a goal from the penalty spot. Very Happy It's been an incredible season, even for myself as i've scored *hides* 37 goals in total (all thanks to my great team mates) while our best player scored a few less 33 I think.

Next up is Malta's game against Bosnia on the 7th of June and then we could take a break from our long season Smile

(sorry Agent Smith, took long to post something about this Embarassed )

Thanks Smile Scoring more than Kelly is great eh Laughing

I'm sure I will. I didn't want to post before so I'd put everything together after we'd won the Knock-out (I knew we were going to win it) Rolling Eyes We're like Arsenal in England as you can see, just one team. Which is a shame since other clubs have good players, all they need is a good mentality and a better coach.

Every club lacks something eh? Wink

And I'd say there are 3 great teams in England: Arsenal, Charlton & Everton.

Arsenal have won the League and the FA Cup which are the most important achievements of the season here,
but Charlton won the two other trophies: League Cup & County Cup.
They've ended the season on the 3rd spot though as Everton grabbed the 2nd Cool

None the less Arsenal are the best and I'm glad you play for the Maltese equivalent of my beloved team Wink

I want to wish you LOTS OF LUCK against Bosnia - I really hope you win this one Cool Fingers crossed!

Yeah, for sure...
In Malta there are these two (or three) clubs that can compete but they find us too good when on our best day. Last year we had only won the League and lost two other Cups but this year we were too good Cool even without some of players who had injuries or were pregnant.

Thanks again Smile but t's going to be difficult against Bosnia, we are really tired and we showed it today, something must be done but our National coach seems to think that no rest will be fine. We've been going for almost 10months without a break and that's really though for us. Even so, I still think (and hope) that we can get a result, we really deserve it Smile

Going to bed now cause I'm really tired, Night!

Hibernians chalk up third double

Hibernians, the dominant force of women's football in Malta, yesterday crowned another fantastic season after beating Melita 4-0 in the Knock-Out final at the National Stadium.

The Paolites have just wrapped up their eighth successive national league after running away with the championship with maximum points from 14 matches. The KO victory means Hibs have made it a league and cup double, their third in the club's history.

Yesterday, they practically made sure of the KO title in the first half.

In fact, at the break, Hibernians led 3-0 following goals by Maria Azzopardi, Dionne Tonna and Ylenia Carabott. Melita, third behind runners-up Birkirkara in the league, only offered some resistance at the start of the match but after conceding their first goal it was all over for them.

Sarah Caruana rounded up a perfect day for Jose Borg's team with a powerful drive from outside the box to score her side's fourth goal midway through the second half.

This was Borg's first season at the helm of Hibernians. His players were the best deployed on the field of play throughout the season as the team's goals record shows - 110 for and only one against (from a penalty).

On their way to the final, Melita eliminated 2005 KO winners Birkirkara, 3-1, and Sta Venera, 5-0.

Hibs beat Rabat Ajax 10-0 and Mosta 5-0 in previous rounds.

This was today's newspaper article of The times.

I still have no idea how to post pictures and Thank you Twmcat Smile

Hopefully we'll keep that up for next season, though it will be thougher because we're going to get divided in two groups, 6 teams play for the league title and the other 4 will play to get promoted (I think)
It's good, nothing better than a thougher challenge Cool and Thanks!
