Is anyone in to fitness training? |
|
Particularly strength and speed training. Does anyone coach this or have any good routines or training plans they could give me? I've been jogging for ages now and doing endurance training so now I want to bulk up a little bit so if anyone has any good tips or whatever let me know pleeeease

You can join fitness forums and each person posts their regimes on there and share with one another if that helps. |

haha I am a bit of a worm boy actually, not my lower body though, it's just my pecs, shoulders and arms that need improving really. My legs are pretty buff and my stomach but the places mentioned aren't good.
I already do football training once a week and a game, but the seasons finished now and we have no training left so I need to be doing something in that period. At the moment I cycle everywhere pretty much or walk, I go to my local football pitches to play football every other day and the cycle there is all up hill so that might be helping my legs but not my arms. I wouldn't mind buying some better weights than I already have but if anyone has any tips then let us know Cheers Forev i'll look into the forums. |

Speed Improvement |
|
My aim is to try and get my speed up. Have been looking up over the internet and found the following website for fitness training. http://www.netfit.co.uk/football-program-webwen.htm
Im going to give the running a shot. My main problem is that when i get one or two long sprints in a game it can put me out of breath. I have 2 training sessions during the week and a game. My fittness has improved since I have returned. Speed is the aim and may be a bit of strenght work may also be required. Gaelic is what I play as well. Apart from the info I have said has anyone any ideas on speed improvment. |

Strength training is for speed etc. Weight training, heavy weights not many reps is the way forward. I think working your abs, hamstrings, quads and calfs is the best. But you need to work your arms also as the faster you swing your arms the faster your legs go.

i'm a coach and a personal trainer. i would reccomend that if you want to work on your upper body then do a variety of sit ups so you work every stomach muscle and use free weights rather than weights machines. however i could tell you more specific routine if you told which muscles you wanted to bulk up. |

[color=blue]hey!!
I am a personal trainer and football coach and wuld suggest to increase your speed you look into a form of training called SAQ (speed agility and quickness) - it involves using equipment like mini hurdles, ladders, poles cones etc........... also plyometrics - this will help increase ya power which will increase ya speed. As for training the specific areas of your upper body you were complaining about you should concentrate on working the whole of ya upper body to prevenent muscular imbalances, which can lead to injury............ Free weights are best as you are not only working a specific muscle/muscle group the stabilising muscles for the specific area you are working are also being worked. Maybe split ya trainging session into days...... Day 1 - Chest exercises Day 2 - Back exercises Day 3 - Shoulder and arms Exercise Day 4 0 Legs and Abs 3-4 set of 12 - 15 reps of each exercise giving you a strength/endurance weight training session. hope this helps |
