FA Cup winners Chelsea and PL champions Man City get the new season
under way with the traditional charity shield at Villa Park this time and not at Wembley which is hosting Olympics.

Any comments or predictions?

I'm going Chelsea 1-0 winners. I think it will be a tight game but one place city haven't and need to improve on is a CB and with the talented lads Chelsea have just bought i can see them scoring and holding out a clean sheet.

These games are almost like pre-season friendly's in the way they are played!

obviously the charity shield result has no baring on the season but I recxkon this could be a very enteraining game . that may well be decided on penaltie.

I think Man City will win by one goal (1-0) and the game should be very entertaining.

Should be an interesting match this one, i think both teams will look to win and add to the successes of last year.
I think it will be a 3-2 to man city with Balotellli getting a couple.

Result

Chelsea 2-3 Man City
1-0 Torres 40'
1-1 Toure 53'
1-2 Tevez 59'
1-3 Nasri 65'
2-3 Bertrand 79'

That was a pretty entertaining game!

City dominated from start to finish and looked sharp and ready for the new season.

Chelsea didn't seem as fit as their opponents and their passing was of a very poor standard.

The ref had no choice but to send off Ivanovic just before the break for what was an awful tackle.

Any comments on todays result?

well that is not quite true actually....didnt they say yesterday that over the last five seasons the winner of the Community Shiled has gone on to win the Premier League on all but one occasion ..that was last season when Man City pipped Man Ud to the title having lost the Community Shield to Man Utd .

A correct score prediction from yours truly.
The most evident thing for me in this game is CHelsea will struggle again this season because no on at that club has the b*lls to bench Lampard ,him Terry and Cole will be the main reason for Chelsea not doing what their squad can potentially do. This is also why i picked Man city to beat chelsea ,and they did not look great either. It took a good performance by the best player on that team Yaya Toure to get them going.I know a lot of member on this forum that they were thinking of me when they saw Mata looking like sh!t out there as i predicted he would against a top side. Yet again i am proven right ,but i am guessing some one will come on here and say some rubbish like ,"it was only community shield". B*ll*cks! I am not saying he crap just saying he needs help in the centre of mid filed and Lamprad is not it!
