Manchester United starlet Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed he shunned approaches from Valencia and Juventus to stay at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese international has established himself as one of Europe's brightest prospects since joining United from Sporting Lisbon two-and-a-half years ago.

He proved his commitment to The Red Devils by signing a two-year contract extension back in November that ties him to the Premiership outfit until 2010.

However, it has now come to light that some of Europe's biggest clubs have tried to prise him from United despite that bumper deal.

Indeed, the player himself claims he had the chance to leave England, but intends to stay at Old Trafford at least until his current contract expires.

"I want to stay at Manchester United until 2010," Ronaldo told Brazilian newspaper 'Lance'.

"I have proposals from various clubs including Valencia and Juventus, but I want to stay here."

The 20-year-old also went on to insist he has a long way to go before establishing himself as a United great, despite comparisons with the likes of former favourite David Beckham and Brazilian star Ronaldinho.

"I feel very honoured by these comparisons, but I have a long way to go to become Beckham's replacement and to play like Barcelona's Ronaldinho," he added.

I wasn't sure whether to believe him or not until Juventus confirmed it, wondering why he chose to stay, foreign players aren't renowned for their loyalty but fair play to him, hopefully he'll stay for many years to come.A few more years in the premiership will toughen him up then we'll see what fullbacks do to stop him Laughing

He's in the wrong team. But Carlos, you should have known that he snubbed Juventus. Ronaldo wouldn't get on for Juve anyways. Not with Nedved out left and Camoranesi out right. Also Mutu has come back strong, scoring a good few goals and playing really well. Nedved is fighting for his place!

Ronaldo wants to stay at Utd until 20010 so he can run his contract down and take a mssive signing on fee. I am beginning to doubt his loyalty?

Fergie stood by him and dropped our most prolific goal scorer over the past 4 years to keep him happy, now I read that he wants to go to Real? I suspect that Figo may have been having a few words in his ear at the world cup now Zidane has retired from the Galacticos?

I think if he wants to go to Real and they really do want him (rather than this just being a vote winning toy in their elections) we should sell but not for less than £30 mil. He is 21 is tied into a contract until 20010 and is supposedly one of the biggest potential starts of the future so this should keep his transfer value high. This money and the £10 mil from Chelski for the Obi Mikel drama could be used to bolster our midfield with Carrick and possibly Lennon or Riquelme.

Well for one im fed up of ronaldo and his play acting, he gives Man Utd a bad name and i think the time is right 4 him 2 leave and go elsewhere, i think we will miss his skill but i think we can find a suitable replacement in sum1 like aaron lennon who is interrested in a move up north to be closer to his family

Man United cracked him of his cheating (for the most part) and then scolari got him back into it. remember when all the united players called him out for that crap when he first got here? and it all but completely stopped. those were good times...
