England's conquerors Portugal will welcome back midfield duo Costinha and Deco from suspension for Wednesday's semi-final against France in Munich.

That is likely to mean Tiago and Armando Petit, who played in the win over England, will drop to the bench.

France coach Raymond Domenech is set to keep faith in the team that beat Spain and Brazil in previous rounds.

The win over Brazil was the first time in two years that France have fielded the same team in successive games.

Portugal (probable): Ricardo, Miguel, Carvalho, Meira, Valente, Costinha, Maniche, Deco, Figo, Ronaldo, Pauleta.

France (probable): Barthez, Sagnol, Thuram, Gallas, Abidal, Vieira, Makelele, Ribery, Zidane, Malouda, Henry.

Who I think will win? FRANCE
Who I want to win? PORTUGAL

France has shown that they still have a lot of football in their side. Pity that the team has a close expiry date. Portugal has been playing really well for some time and after losing the European Cup against the Greeks (unbelievable......... I know) I think that they deserve to go further and play the final.

Still I believe that Germany will finally win the cup.

Ooooh I sense I touched a nerve there! Cool So you are an anti fascist then? How rude Razz I wonder who started insulting who here. This is a football forum you "Mezquito Frances". Go whine about politics elsewhere and respect others beliefs specially ones more orderly and secure than yours. Be an anarchist or something of that ilk and enjoy watching your old colonial leaders fail against our Iberian neighbours.

Deco and Ronaldo hopefully will make the difference.

Sincerest apologies Yeek. It is easy to get riled up when certain remarks are made by people of different opinions.

Shall resume the football discussion from here.

I have to go with France on this one, they seem to have gotten their groove back, and I didn't feel the Portugese played all that well against the English, the English didn't seem to be finishing and have not been playing their best football by any measures, although I do acknlowledge the Portugese were at a disadvantage but I feel for the Portugese to win Costinha and Deco need to come back in the fashion that Zidane did.

Where did you ever get the idea that I was French? Laughing

But regardless. I asked you to leave because that is what you do to fascists. Those who strongly believe in the withdrawal of individual freedom, are in my mind, obliged to surrender their own.

No no no Shocked Confused Mezquito Frances does not mean French. It refers to diluted French blood offspring, just like those of mixed Native Indian and Spanish blood in South America. Rolling Eyes

We are all slaves to one system or another, you should at least choose one you believe in. In any event our system is the dominant force and as a consequence such individuals do not bow to suggestions by those of non consequencial hierarchical status.

Oh well, that's all right then Shocked

Either your sense of irony is so subtle as to go over my head, or you are one thick fascist [beep!].

(Apologies, mods, but you really ought to ban this individual - there's a big difference between racism and the excessive patriotism that football can stir up - and this idiot is a racist pure and simple.)

As we all know too well the English media put Aragones' remarks regarding Henri out of context created a scandal which called for his resignation and dubbed us Spaniards racist. What was the result .... monkey chants when England played Spain in a friendly. I for one am not surprised and I ask you does this make it better?

It will certainly be the most difficult match for Portugal in the WC2006 untill now...France have reached their top form in the last match and we usually don't do well with their Football. They have an amazing midfield and give no space to the other team.

Of course i hope Portugal will win, but we have to be at our top form.
I think we have an advantage to the Brazilians, we have wingers (and very good ones). It is impossilble to enter the French defense by the middle with Vieira, Makelele, Thuram and Gallas, but on the wings Sagnol and Abidal will have much difficulties and Malouda and Ribery don't often help!

If Portugal control the midfield, I think they will put a strong rhythm to the game and try to nail the french.
Portugal is very fast from defense to attack. Maniche, Deco, Ronaldo, Figo and Miguel are very fast in counter-attack.
And since I don't believe that France will play all behind de ball (as England or Mexico against PT), I think will be a very good game.

Well the way France are playing at the moment, I would have to say they have exceeded everyones expectations and stand a better chance than Portugal to go through, they are playing in a coordinated fashion and seem to play well as a team now , hardly reflective of their initial performances. Then again the same was said for Spain before the France match only they had played well in their initial matches and that didn't get them anywhere. Anything is possible as neither Portugal or France is playing outstanding football. I wish Portugal luck and hope they can put France away.

(Mods, if you will permit me, I have to reply to this individual's inappropriate remark (please note I am not using foul language unlike some of these other individuals). Johnny-English don't be so simple minded. Belittling someone because of their beliefs and assuming they have a level of little intelligence is true ignorance - Mr Canada started the tirade so I finish it in true fascist fashion, much better than a regular insult like the one made by yourself which had to be edited, mine is there for all to see! I hope the Portugal's victory.
Deco and Costinha are both back to the team and that make us stronger than we were against England.
France has a excellent team with Zidane in good fit as Henry and Ribery. I hope our defence dont let them play their football, a thing that Brazil couldn't done.
It will be a tough match and portugal will won.... I hope Razz
