I have to say I'm a big English fan ever since I started watching football. I was hoping England could go all the way to the finals. The first time I managed to catch an English game this world cup from my hectic schedule I was utterly disappointed. They were still playing within their groups but the team needs a kick in the butt for not going to their full potential. Look at all the stars England had at their disposal compared to Portugal!!!! I would say the reason why England didn't get through was their own fault! The first 'serious' game they played was with Portugal.

About the red card, sure Rooney doesn't deserve it most probably...a yellow in my opinion. But logically what do you people expect Ronaldo to do? To speak up for the English team? to hide and say he didn't see anything when his team mate is on the ground (and obviously in pain)? His duty in this game is to win it for Portugal! Just because he's a Manchester United player doesn't mean he gives up his team for English! And the media is so bad about the 'wink'... people has got to understand he is playing for his country here and he is real close with his portugal team. Of course you would be happy if your side has numerical advantage (unless you decide to betray your home country for peaceful days in British football earning the pounds) the fact that he's young and doesn't understand how a 'wink' to teammate can be so controversial should also be considered.

If Ronaldo didn't speak up for his team member I would classify him as a betrayer of his country. Seriously I don't think the English team made me proud to be a fan. If the English coach/ players/ fans wants to blame the underdogs everytime they lose a match all I can say is that the English team are pitiful. Grow and learn from mistakes instead of blaming on others. Beckham was crap on the field, they played better with 10 men and the penalty lose is their own fault.

I know it's hard to lose to the cheating antics of the Portuguese, it was not just Ronaldo, but at Manchester United, he has helped big time in getting Ruud Van Nistelroy kicked off the team.

He is so infuriating during a match, doing stupid step-overs, that he fails to pass to the strikers, so wasting chance after chance for his team to score.

All this stick that Ronaldo is getting is tottaly unjustified yes I am English and yes I was devastated that we lost but at the end of the day despite what I have said on here previously we were not good enough. As usuall us English look for a scapegoat and this time its the innocent Cristiano Ronaldo. I wouln't blame our exit on Rooney either it was just one of those unfortunate events he lost his cool for a split second showed some naivity by stamping on Carvalho and pushing Ronaldo but as long as he learns his lesson then its ok. We never played 45 minutes of good football in the whole tounament in fact we weren't good for 10 minutes when we put pressure on sides we couldn't maintain that pressure. Our manager was poor with his decisions like putting Carragher on for Lennon and then letting him take a pen instead of someone like Lennon or Crouch or bringing on a Wallcot. What Ronaldo did wasn't clever however compare this to Henry against Spain with Puyol or the Figo headbut then what Ronaldo did was nothing. We should look up to Ronaldo and admire him he is a great player and a great guy he did work for the Tsunami disaster and that puts football in perspective he has had a tough year personally and he has done well to come through it. So please lay off him and lets remember him for all the good he has done in this tounament and euro 2004, he did brillliantly to come back from that horror tackle from the Dutch defender. Commisarations to Ronaldo and Portugal and well done to Italy and France the best 2 sides won and I hope Zidane gets the exit he deserves by lifting the world cup for a 2nd time he is a true legend and Ronaldo has the potential to be a legend to I for one hope he stays in the premier league Man U and English football needs superstars like him and I also hope Bolton sign Zidane as they seem to sign older players. It would be great for the premier league if Zizou spent a year in it.
