We are in final every 12 years and win every 24?? Laughing

If that eventualy proves to be right, there are good news and bad news for you:

The good news: you win your 4th cup this year.

The bad ones: Nothing to do until the 2030 WC. Laughing

Trezeguet knows the italian players very well as well as Zidane does, all 3, with Henry, are very good but Zidane scares me more then the other 2 because he's unpredictable, extremely experienced and does mistakes rarely.

Let's hope Cannavaro does the impossible, as he's always done, so far!!!

Our target is to prove this rule was right until this WC and change it to a more frequent from next WC on...

Offense wins games , defense wins championships.

and another one

Great players decide the big games.

I don't think it is a coindince that the two oldest / most experienced and defensive-orientated teams are in the final.

Both are very evenly matched and my guess is that one moment of brilliance might decide this one.

Both teams certainly have the players for that, but I wouldn't be surprised if this one went into extra time and PSO. In PSO I would give the edge to Italy simply on the fact that they have the better goalkeeper.

my favorite team (Germany, England and the Netherlands: that's pretty odd for a German guy, isn't it Wink ) are all enjoying their well-deserved vacations or having to play a stupid game for third place. Therefore I don't root for any of the two, but since my favorite player of all time, Zidane, is playing his last game ever, I want him to go out in style - so Allez les bleues.

I like Zidane too and I'd like him to go out in style thus I wish him to score one goal, a great one, one of those tipical of him in his best period, but I also hope Toni scores 2 goals (quite a few points for my fantateam) and one Gilardino. Italy 3 - France 1

i don't know i hope only there is a good referee and hope that all the two teams give us good game, but it will be hard for us.

I think the match against Portugal was the most difficult for the moment, and it will continue, France has played against very difficult teams since the beginning, in the qualifying round (Switzerland, Ireland, Israel), in the group G (Switzerland, South Korea, Togo), Spain, Brazil, Portugal. We had a difficult draw. Rolling Eyes

Zidane will finish his career in a world cup finale, it's great. Razz

Yes, I agree, the main thing is to have a fair referee, grand match and good supporters.

Getting teh cup at the end of the match would be perfect Very Happy

South Korea was the 4th of the wc 2002.

Switzerland have eliminated Turkey (3rd of the wc 2002), Turkey have eliminated Greece (european Champion 2004).

We haven't been lucky, we have missed two victories against Switzerland (the hand of Muller in the box that should have given us a penalty), and Korea (the head of Viera who enter the cage not validated by the referee). Rolling Eyes

That's why that final is a little strange because both team were pretty so-so in this world cup, but have been stronger in the end...

My thoughts are that Italy will get more than enough looks at the goal to make up for the mere handful that France will get, and coupled with Buffon > Barthez, I give Italy a lightly-contested 2-0 victory.

On the other hand France has proven plenty capable of defying expectations...and they have Zidane. I hate France, but I love the way Zidane plays the game, and would love to see him go out with the trophy in his hands.

I'll have to double ditto on this one! the ref is soooo important!!! I hope he is a fair one.

ancann....if Italy wins will there be a national holiday the Monday after do you think?

I guess I'd like to ask French fans the same....Monday off to party in the streets of the cities?

which ever one wins would love to be there for the celebration!!!!! i can just imagine.

Should be!
If the USA won....we'd have to be at work early the next day lol...we don't celebrate much.

I just saw on here in the news section that Elizanzo has been chosen to ref the final. I think that's going to be fine....

Hey! Thinking about this match, I wonder if it would be more useful to let Trezeguet play insteed of Henry! Henry is a fast player and a space eater, but in that kind of match, I think the Italians won't let us spaces to attack, and their central defense is very good! So I think Trezeguet should be more useful because he doesn't need to much space to score (that's his speciality) and is a very good stopped kick player (free-kick, corner, etc.): good with his head and in volley shots. The main problem is that playing with Trezeguet means play a game with only 10 players because he doesn't participate so much in the game, waiting in the opponent zone. So if I were Domenech, I think I would let Henry play the first half-time, then let Trezeguet play the second half-time.

What do think about that?

Cool Comment ca va ami? I too am a french fan and am happy we made it this far again. I can't agree with you more. I was hoping to see David Trezuguet more in this world cup but Raymond Domenech kept putting Louis Saha in as a sub instead. The one game without Zidane we saw Trezuguet had some good vision and moves. Never mind Domenech didn't even put Pires on the team this time!!!! Either way I think we will all see more of Trezuguet in the finals because Saha has two yellow cards and can't sub in for Henry this time.

POUR LE PATRIE ENCORE UN FOIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment vas-tu mon pote? lol Yeah, I agree that it's strange to see Louis Saha in this team, but well he was selected so there was a good reason I guess... Saha is known to be a good sprinter so he can be useful in counter, but he doesn't keep the ball very well... The problem with Trezeguet is that he is a total different striker, in fact he is more a "waiting" striker, not very speed but very dangerous in the opponent zone. He is an equivalent of Van Nistelrooy, Inzaghi or Klose, Henry at the opposite side is more a Ronaldo (the brazilian one), Del Piero or Owen. So using Trezeguet means that we won't play a constructive game, but a side game with center passes, or a closed game (like in the italian league). So that's why I feel that Trezeguet should be more useful.

That's just an opinion (I'm not the only one to think that though...), if I were right I should have been the french coach insteed of Domenech Very Happy
