Tottenham didn't get a rematch when most of their players were struck down with food poisoning just be4 the Arsenal match, so why should a team get a rematch for a bad reffereeing decision, expeciously in a cup game, It would just upset the game, its a part of football.
If referees didn't make mistakes, and teams didn't mess up, it would be like watching robots.

Well let's see? If football was a sport without diving, without malicious conduct, without over-zealous refereeing, without short sighted linesmen, without doubts about whether the ball crossed the line or not, without backhanders and bribes, then it'd be boring?

They used to say that the game lost something when they put seats in the standing areas of football stadiums but people still bought tickets. They used to say that football was nothing without the buzz from violent assault meets with rival fans but now whole family's young and old go to games safely, in most cases.

We shouldn't be scared of change. The technology is there to keep the game flowing, split second decisions can be made off the field of play and paged to the ref. Bring it on. It's well overdue.

Australia will definetely have a chance to play Italy again, they're getting better and better and they'll definetely reach the final phase in 2010 also.
It's not actually a re-match...

I think some people hear are taking this question in a different light from the poster's original intention. Although I wish (cos I have national pride, GO AUSTRALIA), it is kinda wasting time. I only like to request a video replay judging by the refs next time. Did the Italians deserve to win based on that dodgy penalty? No. Are we Aussies planning to make a fuss out of all of it like our mother country Englishmen? no. We have to show that at least our country populated by English Convicts when the colony first settled knows how to behave.

I would say Australia's lost by the 'special' penalty is worst than England's defeat. The red was legitimate and they sucked at Penalty. Did Australians go out in the night to bash our italian neighbours? No.

obviously there would eventually be a rematch between the two teams and it would be interesting to see who gets it. If only Hiddink would stay...and maybe Kewell would have the chance to play next time? We might not have made it through, but it still is pretty good for a nation who have only qualified for the WC twice in its history.
