Good to see that even in a non event like the 3rd 4th Play off, Renaldo can still be seen throwing himself to the floor.
How long will it be before a Portugese supporter comes on here and says that all the whistles and jeers from the crowd when he gets the ball will have come from England supporters who have bought tickets specially to show their displeasure at the cheating little git.

Can't believe that so many England fans were at stadium tonight, so I suppose he got booed by the German supporters (in contrast to Luis Figo, who got a warm applause when he came in).

Maybe, maybe not but even 15% wouldnt account for that amount of booing!
Personally i think now is the time to lay off him now and see if he takes the subtle hint to reduce the diving, because without it he would be both a better player and more pleasing to watch. The same applies for Rooney and his temper.

This is an attempt by an Englishman to be objective about Christiano Ronaldo without upsetting any of our Portuguese friends.

He must have known last night that the eyes of the world were on him, that his talents as a fooballer are being overshadowed by his reputation as a serial diver, that he has beome a pantomime villain (it wasn't English fans booing him last night); you would think he might stay on his feet, try to recover some popularity, but he still performs two of the most ridiculous dives of this world cup.

So, what is going on inside his head? I think the answer is probably nothing, and that is the problem. He has dived for so long that it has become a reflex; as soon as he feels, or even anticipates, the slightest touch, he throws himself over, with a little scream for good effect, eyes already turned to the ref. He isn't the only player with this reflex - Arjen Robben is exactly the same. So, in a sense, it is not cheating, because it is not pre-meditated, he doesn't think "I must dive now", no thought is involved.

You have to hope for Ronaldo that a strong manager can take hold of him and coach the diving out of him. Not just for the sake of his reputation, but also for the sake of his game; because soon refs will stop giving him free -kicks even when he has been fouled, and the hard-men will take advantage of this to kick the crap out of him.
