CONGRATULATIONS GERMANY!

also to Portugal ....4th place isn't bad considering all the countries in the competition and all the games played...!

It's sad there's only one game left though Sad

Beautiful game!! One of the best games in wc.

1st Half:
I dont like to say this, but what about the german players? They dived 6 times, and they won 6 faults!
I mean come on! A few real faults for Portugal, the referee just "didnt see"! (2nd half too)
I think Portugal was punished for some dives againt France. Confused
Yeah, once again Ronaldo also dived (1x) but once again he just missed a good chance to score!! I really dont understand that.

2st Half
grr, they scored (x3) , great game, bla bla bla etc.

Anyway, It was a nice game that Portugal had bad luck, and maybe Germany deserved to win because they played well and they really shooted better, especially Schweinsteinger! Twisted Evil

it's Funny because Germany makes always good tournaments while the rest of time, they're worst. In 1996, France beat Germany in Germany 1-0 just one month before Euro 1996 and who is the winner of this Euro ? Germany of course.

This year Italy has beaten Germany 4-1 in febuary, and germany finished 3rd.

In 1982 Germany was not good, but with the help of the referee against France, they reach the finale.

Etc...

I don't know why they are always so good in a tournament ? but for me, it's very strange. Rolling Eyes

Good on you for pointing it out.

I'm entirely grateful for Australian SBS to have show-cased a range of 'dives' in summing up world cup. Unlike some *cough*you know which country I'm refering to*cough* showed a collection of portugal dives. And also thankful for SBS analysis to be gutsy enough to admit, if they had their pick of the best 11 for a team, Craig David put C.Ronaldo as a winger. It shows at least some countries can put aside media claims and focus on pure football. Finally~

Overall great game. Boy didn't I miss something. The first game I watched with Germany was against Italy (yeh life is hectic). I thought Germany was way defensive and lacked serious strikers. If only Germany placed like this against Italy they might have been in the finals. But good on them for winning because they carried the hopes of the host nation. However I would have liked to see more of Figo.

And the boo-boys still at work. Great display of sportsmanship guys. Especially all the claims were manipulations by the media. I actually caught Ronaldo winking again in this match. A german player also winked (surprise SBS seems to be doing ok). If you look at the 'winks' WITHOUT commentator telling you what it means, a normal person would interpret it as a friendly gesture to the side bench. Reassuring they are doing ok on the field.

How the English press got 'the intention to provoke Rooney'--- they have a good deal of imagination. Seems like English media are willing to sacrifice the reputation of a talented foreign player for high ratings.

Superkiwi; I also threw in a late vote, but it was because I didn't get to this thread until after the game, and as you can tell from my previous posts, I would have voted Germany anyway... LOL.

I just wanted to add how impressed I am by the Portugese player's quotes after the game and how well they took the defeat. Dammit.... if they do anything more sportsmanlike I may end up actually LIKING them!!! Smile

Thank you to both teams for giving us a wonderful game!
Cheers!

For the first time in my life, against what I believe as a football fan, and against a great Sir (Zinedine Zidane) desearves, I won't support neither teams but I really hope Italy gets the Cup, because of that mouron of national coach you have and all that stupid campaign against Portugal you all did...

that's not true at all...there is no compaign against portugal...our medias and our casters respect this team very much...you got no idea about what you say "what you think" lol.

Of course it is very important not to forget, even if no one have watched this match! lol (however I have watch this match recently after downloading it).

Germany is an inner ennemy that we have never beat in World Cup, but well anyway, of course today it's more a childish and humourous hatred rather than a sincere hatred Wink

Who is Schumacher for the french young generation today? Just a very good F1 Ferrari driver, that's all... lol

The balls are not good, Ricardo is surprised by the direction of the ball, like Barthez in the match against Portugal. The balls are too light, it seems.

OK, a bit late, but come on, it was a good game. Pretty fair with good chances on both sides. It was unbelievable what happended after the match. The whole stadium stayed to celebrate and the party yesterday, at the Brandenburger Tor in Berlin was awesome. About 1 Million people came to celebrate the real World Champion! Wink
Unbelievable what this young team did, and never before the Final was more uninteresting than the 3rd place game.
Congratulations to Portugal. Sorry that Ronaldo was booed all the time. I didn't understand that.

@Rest of the world Watch out! We are back with full force!! And even without full force we managed to finish second in 2002. When this young team gets more experience ... thinking of that really makes me wet! Wink
