Leave Australia out of your pathetic jokes. At least in Australia we accept different cultures. Even when Italy beat Australia the news was out quick and we all turned to cheer for Italy. We didn't splash newslines across our newspapers, or attack Italian fans. We continued to go to our fav Italian restaurants and wished our neighbours goodluck. That I have yet to see from majority English fans.

I don't disagree about Ronaldo diving. Fact is that he's trying to maximise his chances at a goal for his country. No more of the 'he cheats more' or 'dives more' stuff because if those hypocrites haven't realised their country is all in the World Cup diving show SOMEWHERE... just because you refuse to believe it (so it makes you feel better about attacking someone) doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Thank you! someone with some common sense! Yes Most of Portugal are supporting France in the Final, just you are supporting Italy. Enjoy the game matie Wink

Yep i'm sure you all went for Lasagne and Mammas own recipe ice cream straight after the dubious penalty decision that knocked you out of the World Cup..

Who are you trying to kid pal , you'll be telling us you all sang Italian songs on the Sydney Harbour Bridge next..

There are a few Aussie fans on here who are still remonstating about that decision 2 weeks later

Who cares! we made it to semi's played our best and well now we are supporting France. Still put smiles on our face when we won against England, one of the highlights of our worldcup!

Sure we are upset about the loss initially (well within 24 hrs of the game), and sure some fans are still on about the penalty kick (heck I'm still not over about the penalty kick really cos there was no contact) anyway...point is even when we are upset about it we didn't act violently (like bashing the other teams's reporters), we didn't splash 'Italian divers' across the headlines and our state premier watched the games on Norton Street (Italian Street) and cheered with the rest of them. There was italians singing and cheering on the streets but its not like other Aussie supporters shouted at them!

And yes. We didn't boycott Italian Restaurants. I went there for lunch the next day! All my friends converted to support Italy. What's the problem? Even if we are feeling we got robbed of the game we still wished the other team good luck and behaved appropriately. If you haven't seen this happening then I'm sorry how the society runs in your country. I'm not saying ALL Aussies are supporting Italy but at least we show respect.

True sportsmanship, The first day or so you are miffed about your country loosing but after that no body cares, there's always next time. Even though France beat us Poruguese in the semi's, We all went to Capital square in Toulouse, France to watch the final match and cheered the french on.

I work for Airbus you [beep!]! I'm here with my husband until the end of this week and then back to "bristol, England" this wednesday. I am an engineer for the Airbus 380! Would you like to see my agenda for the rest of the month! We were just lucky that the games were on the same time!

I blame the ref, Ronaldo, Rooney and whatever guides us super swede:) Rooney was wrong to do what he did I guess but Ronaldos reaction was definitely the worse act. He definitely dives as a lot of other players do but Ronaldo was getting ridiculous. He has only himself to blame for becoming a the butt of jokes which he is now. But it's over! Sad but true. I miss it:)

its strange that u blame the ref. the ref in that game was chosen for the world cup final so obviously, the rest of the world thought the decision to send off Rooney was ok.

anyway, dont blame sven either. its not his fault that Rooney cannot deal with his anger. or that u miss 3 out of 4 penalties..

i think ronaldo is gonna be so harassed when he is back in Man Utd...he has to leave the club or he will be harrassed the same way as becks after world cup98, dont u think?

So you think that whatever Ronaldo might have done - that everyone, in every match, does - , which was claiming for a foul, especially when they see a teammate lying on the floor, in pain, is "definitely" worse than stamping in an opponent's lower parts (that is to say, than violence)? Confused

Ronaldo got ridiculous in this World Cup? That's funny, since he was considered to be the 2nd best young player. He plays awfully? Yeap, and that's why Man Utd. wants so badly to keep him there. Rolling Eyes

And is he the one to blame for the "butt of jokes he is now"? Undoubtedly! He shouldn't drible past the defenders the way he does and shouldn't kick the ball towards the goal that often - then he'd just be an average winger and his opponents (and the press) wouldn't care that much about him (maybe it would be harder for them to find a scapegoat).

ronaldo
