Zidane played many years in Italy and he already had a reputation as big provocateur here .. I wouldn't blame Materazzi .. i'm sure both of them exchanged words .. The differece is Materazzi kept a cool head .. while Zidane .. well .. you know what happened.

Well, I wanted France to win, and matbe they should have done, but it wasn't to be. I don't know about you, but I think a world cup won on penalties means very little - I didn't even bother to watch them - but then I'm not Italian

As for Mad-Dog's questions/observations:

I don't know why Italy played so bad second half and extra time; maybe France surprised them the way they played after a not so good first half, maybe the Italians lost their nerve a bit; I don't think it could be condition, because the Italians are younger and they had an extra day's rest.

2nd striker came on too late - Yes, definitely! I think France could have won in 90 minutes if they had given the Italian defence more to think about - they only had to worry about Henry.

Why take Henry out? Because he was exhausted, that was clear - but he wouldn't have been exhausted if he hadn't had to play up on his own.

Zizou - what can you say? Materazzi must have known what he was saying to provoke a reaction like that, but whatever the provocation it was a stupid thing to do.

Overplayed?When? During the second extratime they were exahusted... France did goal only with a doubtful penalty kick... Be honest! During the first time Italy definitly dominated...The second and the extra time was french but les blues had few chanches to achieve the goal... And Italy did goal during the game! Not helped by the referee!

you were afraid of France, you were all in defense, and you waist time. You're not abble to play football, so do another sport instead of cheating or buy some brazilians videos and learn.

the panalty was no,but as i said later in the match france should have gotten a penalty,as of the game the first 15minutes were for france then 25minutes italy then over one hour france again even with 10men so why be surprised if people think france overplayed italy?
