The English Press....Never any credit for the Italians!

I bought all the papers on the 10th July, hoping to see a few decent pictures of the Italians celebrating and there were a couple, but mostly they showed Zidane walking off, or buttin Materazzi.

So I looked for a few articles on how well we had managed to do, given we had a lot of new blood in the team, and guess what. Not a word!

Instead it was all about Zidane and his red card! The other 'angle' was 'France lose the World Cup' or 'Zidane's moment of madness cots French World Cup'.

The headlines should have been, 'Italy win World Cup' or 'Italy Champions'. even, 'Italy grind out World Cup win' would have been nice to see, but no, the English press just could not concede a few words of praise in our finest footballing moment.

As we say, 'Non ti danno mai la soddisfazione!'. (They never give you the satisfaction.) Knowing this would be the case, I made arrangements to get a couple of copies of 'Lo Gazzetta Dello Sport', 'La Stampa' and 'Li Corriere Della Sera' from my family in Italy. Also, I am getting some Brazilian newspapers too.

Do you think if England had won the final where Zidane had been sent off, we would have seen the same reaction in the papers? No, of course not.

Hang your heads in shame English press. Italy won the World Cup but you just couldn't bring yourselves to write it up the way it was. Vergongnati.

Never mind. You can always churn out even more articles about the glory of 1966......

Meanwhile, I will search for some decent atricles and pictures about the current World Champions - ITALY!

well as all the commentators of the match said , it is a shame that all the headlines tomorrow will be about Zidanes headbutt rather than Italy winning the World Cup ...it was the talking point of the match , so you can hardly blame the press can you .

This final will always be the final with the attack by Zidane. You can't balme the press, nearly everyone is thinking like that (maybe not the Italians).

1990: Brehme's penalty
1994: Baggio's penalty
1998: Zidane's goals
2002: Kahn couldn't catch the ball
2006: Zidane's attack

At least that's how I have them in my mind. 2006 is definitely not: "Italy played better than France"

The English Press....Never any credit for the Italians?

You are wrong, usually they only give credit for them selves, even so they dont give credit for all english clubs! Chelsea is a great example! Am i totally wrong?
But the worst are the /fake stories/dramas/incidents invented/twisting the true/....

Even so i think RegularJohn and conner99 are right, that incident was the talking point of the match and many "presses" around the world always focus in that kind of stuff.

The English Press....Never any credit for the Italians!
