In future maybe fifa should try 2 changes to rules.......... |

1. Making the fourth official sit in front of a TV screen throughout the game to alert the ref of diving cheating and incorrect decisions. It's been around in Rugby for a few years and works fine, so it can in football too.
2. Instead of going to penalties at the end of extra time. Carry on playing to a golden goal but all players with a yellow card as well as the goal keepers have to leave the field, with goals only allowed to be scored inside the 18 yard box. Just a thought, but it would clean the game up as well as take away the lottery of penalties? |

Point 1 seems okay. A refereeing team that makes decisions would be fine. The laws of the game should be adapted to this rule too (for example, if a goal is disallowed for offside, the action on field should continue, without interruption, and then the video replay seen).
The second point seems a little exaggerated. Teams win if they score goals - you can't just send players off for a yellow card. What, a really good team makes a couple of mistakes during the match, and during extra time you take off their players? That's exaggerating. Timewasting is also a common problem - we could adopt 2 30mins halves of timed play. The offside rule is wrong as it is - it's not what it was invented for. I mean - most people who don't understand football think it's ridiculous that Toni's goal was disallowed for offside in the final - maybe the offside rule is becoming somewhat old. |

Point taken and obviously mistakes happen.... I was booked for clumsy tackles once or twice myself over the years, but taking yellow carded players off during golden goals would create an interesting imbalance in the team with the most cautioned players. Managers would be more than aware of this potential outcome and it may force teams to tidy their game up.
The Portugal Holland game would have been amusing if it had have gone that far ! |

Also softening the offside rule too much has it's own draw backs......it could create too much route one football, which is boring to watch. Remember Watford and Wimbledon in the 80's and early 90's?
