Samba's going down? |
|
Every world cup has its tendencies. Which style of football works the best. The losers usually copy a bit of the winners.
This time 3 rather defnsive teams (France, Portugal were playing only 1 forward and i think Italy too?) reached the semis and Germany doesnt really count cause they were hosts. Brazil was the biggest dissapointment of the cup. Horrible to watch. I don't mind cause I don't like seeing them win every time. The question: has the WC revealed any new tendencies or was it just a tournement and we won't see styles change. |

I wouldn't worry too much if I were you.
There won't be too much style changes. Teams usually plays what suits them best. Portugal have been playing with a lone striker since ..... 2002? I mean, you are never gonna see Brazil or Argentina switch to defense mode will you? Although yes, there has been a radical change with Germany and that does indeed look good. If they can maintain that then I think they should stick with it. |

back in time
1986 :Argentina won on the back of one player maradona 1990 : very defensive tournament that's why rules changed 1994 : brazil won thanks to his 2 brilliant striker and a good defensive game plan 1998 : france won with no striker and a good defensive game plan 2002 : brazil won due to general tiredness that lead to low quality football / defensive football 2006 : defenisve football won again |
