How to coach a soccer team
by Tony Carr

i've been using the above book to help me with my coaching and I would definately advise people to tkae a look at it. It has been written by an experienced coach in Tony Carr who has been working with West Ham Utd's acadmemy for many years and bought through the likes of Ferdinand, Lampard, Joe Cole and Defoe.

"Junior Soccer" by Adam Ward & Trevor Lewin
a very first book . light on but its one of those books you can give out to the kids to take home and read.

ED: Actually I reloaned this book from the Library on the way home. Its even better than my memory recalled. Lots of photos, activitites and info on various aspects of team building and skill development.
Aimed at coaching 6-12 year olds

RE: How to coach a soccer team Tony Carr
Just checked my library list of books I have loaned out in the past. (Wanted to make sure it was the same one)
I also agree this was a good book, anything with West Hams Academy has got to be good Smile

just got home, I couldnt remember the book we used in the coach course but now home I have it here in front of me
Not sure if you were after youth stuff. Over here newbie coaches start their coaching with youths. I hope this is appropriate.

Developing youth Soccer Players
by Horst Wein.
I quote
"""this book features the Soccer Development Model, an innovative system of coaching in which stimulation is specific to each age groups cognitive capacities and physical abilitites."""

Brilliant reference book on coaching how to. Full of activities (drills) and what you can expect and how to interact with different age groups. (ages 7-14)
If you can implement a 10th of this book on you and your team, there will be smiles all round.

Attended a coaching workshop last night and we viewd a real good video on the dutch coaching system (which is know to be one of the worlds best)
Ajax Training Method part 1 and part2
I did a quick google and found it here http://www.lacancha.com/Soccer_V2963.html

there are rumors it was coming out on dvd but there was some legal complications delaying it.

not cheap but if you come across a library with it id recomend checking it out for sure!!
