Dean Leacock's proposed switch from Fulham to Swansea is off, despite the fact the transfer had previously been announced.

Ambitious League One outfit Swansea had agreed a £375,000 deal for the central defender but he will now remain at Craven Cottage.

The two clubs involved have released a joint statement to explain the reasons behind the collapse of a deal that had appeared to have been rubber-stamped.

"Dean Leacock's permanent move to Swansea has fallen through after the two clubs and the player failed to agree all the relevant terms of the contract,'' read the statement.

"Dean has now returned to Fulham and rejoined the first team's pre-season preparations."

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins admits he was disappointed that the club have failed to land the player, whom he accepts was one of manager Kenny Jackett's prime targets.

"We are very disappointed how things have turned out over the last day or so. But sometimes things happen in football which are out of our control,'' added Jenkins.

"Kenny is very disappointed because Dean was one of his main targets. But I can guarantee the supporters that Kenny is looking to bring in one or two new signing within the next week or so."
