Plymouth Argyle pushed European giants Real Madrid hard before falling to a 1-0 defeat in their pre-season friendly in Austria on Friday.

Real put out to a strong side for coach Fabio Capello's first match in charge with Jonathan Woodgate, Ivan Helguera, Antonio Cassano and Guti all playing.

The sides were separated by Julio Baptista's 75th minute penalty after Luc Nalis handled in the area.

Argyle created few chances, but their commitment stopped Madrid's fluency.

Javier Portillo missed two good chances in the first half for Madrid, while substitute Soldado went close several times late on.

Don't know what to make of the scoreline.

Man United drew with burton albion (a conference side) in the F.A cup. this was just a friendly so it wasn't important for madrid at all. anyway the side Man U put out when they drew with burton albion was better than the side madrid put out against plymouth. madrid never came close to losing or even drawing the game. they were always going to win it, but when Man U drew with burton albion they were actually very lucky. brton albian came very close to winning it on several occasions.
