Lewington commits to Allen |

Milton Keynes Dons defender Dean Lewington has signed a new deal at the club after a summer of speculation.
The 22-year-old prospect impressed as a mainstay in League One last season and attracted interest from a variety of Football League clubs. But he has now agreed to another year at The National Hockey Stadium with a one-year option after that. Boss Martin Allen has hailed the deal as a sign of things to come, as he attempts to rebuild the club. "There has been a lot of interest in Dean at a higher level but he has seen over the last couple of weeks enough to convince himself that we can move this club forward in a positive fashion, which he feels he wants to be part of," Allen explained. "For me personally this is great news." Meanwhile goalkeeper Matt Baker, 26, could be on his way to League One after being allowed to leave MK Dons. "I have had a chat with Matt and I have decided to make him available for transfer to give him the opportunity of playing first team football," Allen revealed. "He played for Gillingham on Tuesday night and will now have to wait and see how that situation develops." |
