I ran out in a interresting article in BBC sports:
Joan Laporta has been elected president of Barcelona and will now try to persuade David Beckham to sign for the Catalan club.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/2981028.stm

If Barcelona had signed Beckham, we wouldnt get Ronnie and Eto'o meaning no ligua titles, no CL trophy.
And probably I would be a Man Utd fan, because Ronnie would be there.
Thanks GOD, Real snatched him Laughing Laughing

Then you are a Barça fan or a Ronaldinho fan ?? Is what happens with most of Japanese people, that they are a fan of a player and then they change their favourite team according to the team where this player plays.

Afrinux, didn't you know that story?

Ronnie was indeed only 2nd choice, at first i was mad we didn't get Becks (especially considering how cheap Madrid got him) but in the end we can consider ourselves very lucky

What has the Eto'o transfer got to do with this mate?

Putrum, believe me I am a true barca fan, now. Yeah, I agree before Ronaldinho came, I wasnt supporting Barcelona.

Did you think that Eto'o would have considered a struggling barcelona? Ronnie changed Barcelona in his first year, and I believe it somehow influenced Eto'o and Deco.

Hahaha Laughing Laughing Raul, I am not like you. I am always sober.
Besides, what I said is true. Real didnt win anything with Beckham Razz
Real Madrid was the unlucky one, you got beckham and lost Eto'o. Razz

Eto'o has always hated Real Madrid (for how they treated him), he has always looked for a Barca move

Besides it's not like we totally depend on Ronaldinho, he's not our only star. Don't forget we also have Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, etc...without Ronnie we would have had some success too. We won the UCL despite Ronaldinho playing badly in most matches Wink

But for example if Ronaldinho signed for Milan then you wouldn't be a Barça fan and would be a Milan fan ?

Afrinux (only), could you place these names in order of how important they have been for Barca? At top the most important 1

Diego Maradona
Carles Rexach
Ronald Koeman
Juan Campo
Johan Cruijff

Not to take you down or anything, just as a little question to see how much you know about Barca Wink Since I don't think the answer of this question can be looked up. If you know the right answer, you've proven to have some knowledge of Barca Smile

Quaresma was good, just didn't get a real chance and picked up too many injuries Sad

Gaspards biggest mistake was the Overmars+Petit deal, he wasted all Figo cash right away...nutter

But you can't blame him for that, I understand it.

Several years ago, when Gasol moved to the NBA, I started watching the northamerican basket league, and supported Grizzlies because that's where Gasol played. I mean, I know that there are better players in the NBA, but I love watching Pau Gasol because he's spanish and because he plays the kind of basket I like.

They have treated him very badly, have never given him a chance in their first team and loaned him out season after season after season...

Eto'o actually came from their youth system and has proven to be better than any of their current strikers....bad luck for madrid, they should really give their youngsters a chance and not only sign proven players Wink

Sure but maybe he wouldn't be the player he is today if he hadn't of been loaned out. If he got his chance at Real and blew it, this could have done his confidence and ended playing for some rubbish club!!!! Laughing

Real Madrid didn't treat him badly, He has always been very arrogant and he thinks he's the best in the world. He's a good striker, but we have always had better strikers and he couldn't play as much as he wanted.

No-one has come close to Eto'o in the last 2 seasons

Not to forget that he defeated you on his own a few times, when he was at Mallorca Very Happy Cool

Sorry mate.
Ronaldo - 2 golden balls, top scorer with Brazil, and best striker in the world
Raúl - Best spanish player ever. Top Scorer of real madrid, of the spanish national team and the Champions League.

In 2003, when you got Eto'o, he wasn't even a shadow of Ronie or Raul.
Now he's one of the best, and it's a success of Laporta, but if he had flopped it wouldn't have been a surprise.

You're talking about 2003, so those awards aren't relevant Wink

Barca didn't pay +/- 26 million euro for him for nothing Smile'

ps
1. he came to barca in 2004
2. in his last mallorca season he scored 17 goals (SIX more than Raul for a much bigger side) so how can you say he wasn't even a shadow of his? Shocked

Oh and when Mallorca sold Eto'o they suddenly finished 6 places lower Wink

I think you'll find you're underestimating Eto'o here

It's not only about scoring, since Raúl is not a centre forward anymore. Since Ronaldo came to Madrid, he has played near the midfield.

Anyway, I was talking about 2003 (or now I correct myself, 2004) because that's when Barcelona signed him. Oh, and Raul also scored in Champions, something Eto'o didn't know until he went to Barcelona.
Oh, Eto'o didn't come in the summer of 2003 with Ronaldinho?? Anyway, your bet succeeded, but Eto'o has a lot to do if he wanna become someday a player like Raul or Ronaldo, and he should start by not spitting at anyone, not calling Real Madrid fans are cabrones if he doesn't wanna be insulted then. Show respect if you want respect.
