Cardiff have announced they are to replace manager Lennie Lawrence, who will take on a consultancy role at the club for at least six months.
Lawrence took over from Alan Cork in February 2002 and steered the club into the old First Division after their Division Two play-off win over QPR.

He said: "I have enjoyed the last three-and-a-half years at Cardiff and wish the club all the best."

Cardiff, who are £30m in debt, ended this term four points above relegation.

Bluebirds owner Sam Hammam added on the club's website: "Lennie has shown me and the club tremendous loyalty throughout his time.

"He has always conducted himself with extreme dignity and composure in success and adversity.

"In my nearly 30 years in football, Lennie stands out as the one true gentleman in the manner he has conducted himself working for me at Cardiff City."
