Hi - My name is Stan Strickland and I am in the process of buying a home in Anglesey (not a second home!) at Bethel nr. Bodorgen.

I have been involved in semi-pro football in Lancashire for the past 13 years as secretary, press officer & as a director of Burscough FC who play in the UniBond League Premier Division. During the time I have been involved the club has gained three promotions, won the FA Trophy at Villa Park in 2003 and has the most successful youth development programme of any semi-pro club in England. Not bad for a village of only 8,000 people!

I expect to have made my home in Anglesey by the first week in August and will be looking forward to taking in some local football. Bangor City are obviously the nearest WPL club and I am sure I will be paying a visit or two to Farrar Road. Tony Gray is one of their players I recommended to Burscough over 18 months ago who went on to join City. I also know several others from their West Cheshire League days. We signed striker Paul Gedman from Bangor in the summer of 2004 and he was Burscough's leading scorer last season. A tremendous player.

However, my preference would be to get involved with a club that has yet to achieve its full potential. Two clubs that possibly meet that criteria are close to where I will be living, Glantraeth and Llangefni Town so I am sure I will be a regular visitor to Cymru Alliance fixtures.

I will be looking to invlove myself in the local community and at least make the effort to learn a little Welsh and I have to say I am really looking forward to my move and some exciting challenges ahead.

Thanks for that twmcat. I suppose I haven't come back as there is not as much happening on the forum as I had hoped. Maybe all on their summer vacs. Since I wrote the above Burscough have actually signed Tony Gray from Bangor City, better late than never.

My move to Anglesey now looks more like mid-August. Once established there I am sure I will have more to say.
