Rochdale have captured young goalkeeper Lewis Edge on loan from League One outfit Blackpool.

The 19-year-old was signed by Simon Grayson from Worksop Town in February but has been allowed to move to Spotland on loan to further his development.

Edge will now ply his trade with the League Two outfit until January 10 after impressing Dale boss Steve Parkin during a trial period.

Rochdale are still working hard to bring in new faces ahead of Saturday's League Two opener against Walsall, and Parkin says he may table permanent offers to trialists Lee Crooks and Craig Dove.

Former Manchester City and Bradford defender Crooks (pictured) impressed in a pre-season friendly against Oldham Athletic, whilst former Chester City midfielder Dove has also caught the eye whilst training at Spotland.

"We'll be having a further look at Lee Crooks and Craig Dove and if they impress - and we can afford them - something could be done," Parkin told the Manchester Evening News.

"There is a bit of money left for us to play with, though if both those players were to come in it would not leave us with much left in the budget.

"Nevertheless, the search for new blood continues beyond the start of the season on Saturday.

"Right now we are all looking forward to getting back into action against Walsall at the weekend."

One player who will not start the season under Parkin is Brian Gilfillan who has returned to Gretna, whilst Tony Vaughan's chances of a permanent deal took a hit when he suffered an injury against Oldham.
