I read a couple of weeks ago that Ghanian captain Stephen Appiah wanted to play for Arsenal, but haven't heard anything since. I think the Gunners could use his services to replace Gilberto. What do u guys think??????? Cool Twisted Evil

I think purchasing Stephen Appiah would be a good idea, but I am not sure about letting Gilberto go if we do. I went to the Arsenal v Bolton game at Highbury game last season, Gilberto scored a goal and everyone was acting as if he was the hero, but up until the goal he had done nothing and had been walking around the pitch as if he couldnt be bothered. Maybe if we bought Appiah who is similar to Gilberto the brazilian might work harder to keep a place in the team.

Appiah is one of the best player i've seen during tho WC2006, that is true.
But I think that there are too many midfielders in Arsenal who can play as a defenderal midfielder and central midfielder: Cesk, Gilberto, Diaby. So, maybe the signing of Appiah is unnecessary for Arsenal.

Appiah would be a good signing he sort of a defensive midfield type. Could be the answer to fill the gap left by Vieira.

We don't need him. We've got Gilberto, Diaby, Djourou, Flamini, Song & Denilson who can all do that defensive style role well.
