Casillas facing Capello axe at Real Madrid |
|
Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello is ready to dump Iker Casillas for backup goalkeeper Diego Lopez on Wednesday for the Bernabeu Trophy clash with Anderlecht.
Capello has been impressed by Lopez in preseason training and favours the larger-framed youngster over Casillas. AS says Real staff are concerned with Casillas' approach in training. The Spain No1 has reportedly become more introverted, serious and coaching staff are worried about his confidence going into the new season. If Lopez passes his test on Wednesday night, Capello will seriously consider going with him in the Liga proper - though he does have concerns with the keeper's lack of experience. Is this true? Would Capello drop Spain's no.1? |

I don't mind if he plays or not the bernabeu trophy.
Iker is the best and the important thing is that he plays in La Liga. |

Capello had a little slip today while he was speaking to press. He mentioned Illgner instead of Iker (casillas) by mistake. Note that Illgner was the keeper he personally asked when he was here in Madrid ten years ago and a guy physically quite similar to Diego Lopez so this reopens the doubts about Casillas.
