Thorough Admiration For Shearer ! |
|
Having seen the highlights and the game on BBC tonight, I hold both hands up to Alan Shearer who joined the West Ham protest at the sending off., I admire Alan tremendously as a good player and a professional sportsman not wanting to see a fellow professional sent off for a diabolical decision from a referee 40 yards behind the tackle that the rest of the world see as perfectly legal. Newcastle supporters and West Ham supporters have always had a private admiration for each other for the banter in the stands, We are treated with respect when we visit Newcastle, and it is reciprocated when they come to the Boleyn ground. Alan's attempt to make the referee see sense this afternoon has raised him higher in my estimation from a good player and sportsman to the level of one of the greatest players and sportsmen of all time !! Richard.

yes at least some footballers can be interviewed without the need to gave excuses like "i didnt really see it properly" or " it was down to the referee " . Shearer had the decency to say it was a bit harsh so yes well down to him.

He is a true amabassador for the game and will be great as a tv pundit next season.

Shearer has gained even more respect for doing this, obviously it wasnt a sending off, and i think if it was a foreign player they woudnt of argued because you always see abroad them asking for a yelow card to be given to the player, but in this case Shearer was trying to persuade the referee to keep a fellow professional on the pitch.
You have to admire him for that. |

Nice thing to do for Alan , did realise him doing this until seeing the highlights. Just could see lots of West Ham players surrounding the ref at the time.

I think if all players did this then we would see a big change in the game. I saw i think in a championship game with the keeper lieing on the floor with serious injurys (that left him in hospital) and all the other team cared about was scored now thats just called being human going over and helping why can't players be like Shearer and Dicanio (One good thing desn't make him a saint though lol

Agreed but it just wont happen!
The Pro's are taught a little differently these days! Not just how to play but how to be a player if you know what i mean - numerous tricks - not the gentlemanly side! |
