Capello: Ronaldo will get 30 goals for Real Madrid

Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello is backing Ronaldo to deliver on his promise of scoring 30 goals this season.

There has been speculation Capello doesn't see eye-to-eye with the Brazilian, but he insisted last night: "Ronaldo is the number one in the world, he is impressive.

"It is important we recover his best. He has said that he is going to score 30 goals and I have total confidence he is going to do it."

Asked about the boos from the home crowd during Sunday's 2-0 win over Real Sociedad, Capello said: "The public can applaud or boo. It's their right because they pay.

"The fans are always upset with one player. Before it was Raul, always with Raul, now with Emerson. I cannot let myself be guided by the opinion of others."

When was the last time Ronaldo scored 30 goals in a season?

If you mean just in La Liga, I think it was in 1996 or 1997 with Barcelona. If you mean summing up Liga and Champions, then a couple of years ago here he scored more than 30.
