Roeder: I wanted Tevez

Newcastle United boss Glenn Roeder admits he tried to sign Argentinian international Carlos Tevez this summer.

The Magpies are set to line up against the 22-year-old ace and his countryman Javier Mascherano at Upton Park on Sunday.

But Roeder has confirmed his admiration for the bullish forward was immediately rebuffed by his Brazilian club Corinthians after the tournament in Germany.

"Tevez was one of the players who impressed me in the World Cup and I made a discreet inquiry about him," Pardew confirmed.

How do u work that one out. We got Shola, Martains and Rossi. Also Siberski could suprise, again.
