The new Wembley Stadium may not be finished in time for the FA Cup final on 13 May, the Australian company responsible for the project has warned.

Martin Tidd, Multiplex's UK managing director, said there was a 70% chance the stadium would be ready.

Tidd said Multiplex could not afford any further delays if it was to meet the 31 March deadline to hand the £757m project to the Football Association.

The FA has provisionally booked Cardiff's Millennium Stadium for the FA Cup final as a contingency plan.

*What a complete balls up this project had been, massive cost overruns, missed deadlines, the finished product better be worth it!!

The whole things been rubbish right from the start, what with all the stuff about where it was going to be and then it over running.

I'd be concerned about hosting the FA Cup final there now anyway because if you rush to finish the job there are more likely to be mistakes made then if you agreed now to move to another venue and finished the job properly.

why cant we get anything right in this country . The millenium dome , that wobby bridge and the memorial fountain for Diana are a few ventures that have cost more money than they were supposed to . I am not surprised Wembley may not be ready if half the builders are smoking dope or whatever , it may be the best stadium in the world when finished but it is annoying we cant seem to do things as cost effective as other countries have . I hope the people organising our olympic games in 2012 realise that it is to be held in 2012 , they cant just delay it for a year if facilities are not ready....

Is it very important for the final to be played in Wembley?

Yeah. I don't see why the final cannot be played in Cardiff for just one more year. Who knows what would happen if they rush the building process? The roof might collapse when the Liverpool fans sign "You'll never walk alone" ........ if we get to the final that is ..............

lol Connor Laughing That cheered me up!

I don't see the problem with playing in Cardiff for one more year and getting it right but i agree that we need to ashamed of our current track record of getting these things right and building to set timescales.

I'm even more concerned abgout the 2012 Olympics because of the stick Greece got because they didn't finish half of their stadiums, like all of the swiming pools didn't have roofs on. Thats fine in Greece where its warm but in London it not normally hot enough, although maybe thats going to be the tactic, get all of the other competitors to get colds so we storm to victory.

Hi, I'm a journalist from Sydney in Australia. I can confirm that Multiplex has come out and said the FA Cup final will be held at Millennium and not Wembley.

Just wondering... is this a major blow for football fans? Is it disappointing?

Would appreciate your views, guys!

Cheers,

I don't give two hoots about where the final is played. As long as it is played and it promises to be an exciting game. But then again, I'm not English. You may want to ask the rest.

Hey Roz, I'm not English either but I do know that there is something special about Wembley and the FA Cup Final, it's as if they are meant to be. So I would say yes, there is disappointment there considering that the timeline has been pushed out a couple times already, and now we find it won't be done for the final. Let's see what some of our UK members have to say about the entire situation.

Also, how about you going to the newcomers section and introducing yourself, that way we all can give you a proper welcome. We'd love to have someone from the AP onboard with us as well.......
