Sven-Goran Eriksson has revealed how he told David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard their midfield confusion must end once and for all.

Rather than having his hand forced by player power, the reality is that Eriksson's meeting with his senior midfield trio last Tuesday saw him express his frustration at their displays against Denmark.

This trio of players are more essential than any other to Englands potential success at the World Cup next year.

I havent seen any of the England games lately but it looks like the manager isnt happy, lets hope they sort it out fast!

Fans are not happy too!

I think that Beckham should stick to playing on the right and stop trying to be centre of attention when he clearly confuses the rest of the midfield - He has great passing ability but crosses from the right whipped in are what he should concentrate on

I still think that he thinks that he is the main man and the team should be around him - unfortunately a man called Rooney is who the focus should be on and he should get on with being a team member!

I think Beckham still deserves to be in the England team at the moment but the time will come when there is a better option, i hope Sven has the common sense and courage to drop Becks then.

Beckham has caused these problems, i personally didnt think he was very good against Wales. Playing the holding role come on he cant tackle. I think it was in the paper the other day Gerrard didnt no where he was supposed to be playing as he was playing in 3 different postions . . .

I don't know whose decision it was to play Beckham where he played, bottom line is Sven is the coach and he should have the final say. But Beckham is not Makelele or Vieira, and to think he can play a defense midfield is not only incorrect, but very dangerous. He may have gotten away with it against Wales, but the time will come when he's going to be called on to do more of the things that position requires and he's not that good at , like tackle and it's going to cost England big time. Sven needs to start calling the shots and quit experimenting every time a game comes along, continuity is needed and it's time is now.

I dont think Becks will have to platy that position again, thankfully, as i think Sven was experimenting and it wasnt a successful one, even tho they got the 3 points.

Owen is back - so forget about the experiments with only Rooney in front. I am sure, despite Owen has not so much games this season - actually only friendlies, Sven will use the stiker. And then Beckham is surely back on right.

Well...still 4-5-1..

Joe Cole is out..and Rooney will play at the left...(!)

Owen up front alone.

And, Beckham is still holding role in central midfield.

I think Sven is gambling with Englands qualification if that is true Amy.

It is by no means guaranteed yet, isnt experimentation like this why friendlies are played? Not World Cup qualifiers!

Stick to the 442 formation with Gerrard on the left Lamps and Bex in the middle and SWP on the right!

Roons and Geordio Gallactico up front!

I totally agree with you Big Jono, we all know that injuries force Sven to make changes, but he should know by now where his players fit in, and sometimes it appears he trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. As I said before, it's all about continuity, and thus far shuffling players around as well as changing formations doesn't send the message to me that he's got a clue what he wants to do.....Could be costly, I hope not, we'll wait and see...... Confused

I would fix the problem like this:

Rooney - Defoe( Owen )

Gerrard - Lampard - Beckham - SWPhilips

I personally think Rooney needs to play up front, he's Englands best chance to get goals, and to have him playing behind less capable strikers is beyond me, he doesn't need to be wandering back into the midfield, he should only be worring about scoring goals, that's what he does best.

Why cant Beckham just play on the right ?

I totally dont understand how he has been praised for playing in the holding role, he has been stopping Gerrard and Lamps from playing and cant tackle, he misses them just tries to walk through , he is supposed to be the holding player , stopping the oppostion from getting passed him.

Putting Beckham on the right equals to leaving SWPhilips on the bench. From what I saw so far, SWP is one of the best winger in the world.

SWP is a long way off being the best winger in the world.
