The Magpies must play at least 21 games before the end of the year due to their Uefa Cup involvement.
The number could rise even higher if Newcastle embark on a Carling Cup run, and there will be precious little time for Roeder's players to rest between games. Roeder believes Newcastle could cope if they had a larger squad, but fears his resources could be stretched to breaking point. "It is an amazing amount of games in such a short time," he acknowledged. "There is only one free week when there is an international friendly. "It leaves very little time to prepare as it takes players 48 hours to revive. "Everyone would like to have more players but the fact is we haven't got strength in the depth. "We must make sure players aren't sent off." Newcastle begin their European campaign against Fenerbahce on Thursday, but Roeder insists The Premiership will remain his primary focus this season. He explained: "The league is the priority - it's your bread and butter. "Fans must understand that. But it doesn't mean we'll put a team out in the cups where we don't think we'll win." |

So 21 games, we're talking about 30 points there, for Newcastle.
