I'm originally from Yeovil. The last game I saw at Huish Park was Yeovil’s last game in the Conference. That summer, after the promotion party had died down, I moved to Arizona, married my wife here and I have never been back.
Because of Green Card issues leaving the USA has been impossible until recently. Hopefully over Christmas I will be able to return to the UK and see Yeovil play for the first time outside of the conference.
In case you’re wondering about the link between Yeovil and Arizona, It’s based around Helicopters, Westlands and Boeing to be more specific.
Since Yeovil moved up to Coca-Cola 1 I have been able to get the live commentary on the internet. Before that is was a case of following the updates on ciderspace.co.uk
Favorite YTFC Memory: Away at Doncaster - We had won promotion from the Conference before the game kicked off because of a result elsewhere and the whole game was a party for the fans and exhibition match for the team who ran out 4-0 winners, if I'm not mistaken.
The song from the terrace rang out “you’ve got horses on the roof”… which has to be just about the most obscure chant to have been heard for quite a while.
If you are passing thru Arizona, perhaps on your way to the Grand Canyon or wherever, I can show you where the yanks hide the good beer.
