Well deserved win for Southend. Eastwood is a total class act, he looks way above the quality of Southend and wouldn't have looked out of place in red tonight. Their keeper was top drawer aswell.

Tonight just shows how much Fletcher is lacking in the qualities needed for our team. He didn't spread the ball well, didn't fight hard enough and with Jones beside him it really showed. Fletcher should be running that midfield but he couldn't.

I can't just put it down to him though, everyone played bad. Richardson is not good enough which we already knew and just a crap performance.

The better team on the night won.

wow, wow, and quadruple wow

a mighty win for southend. you woulda though by now that fergie should have learned his lesson about putting out a weaker team. start your best team, get the lead, then bring off your star men

It was an excellent result and an excellent -performance from Southend. If I was a United fan I would be dissapointed but not worried after all he played a strong team (but made changes) and they had about 17 shots during the match and about 10 were on target so on another night they could have easily have won by 3 or 4 but these sorts of nights are what makes cup football so special. Well done to both teams for a great game Eastwood and the keeper were awesome and well done to SAF for putting out a strong side considering they have just played copenhagen Pompey and they hve Rovers and Celtic to come. It was a great spectacle.

We'll just come back on Saturday and perform again, no worries there, it was just a bad performance all round and shows how vital Scholes and Giggsy are to us.

What a win! Great performance as a unit from Southend, United were limited to shots from outside the area until Richardson had a great chance at the end.

Anyway, forget about the game...do you see the Cheerleaders at half-time?

No I wouldn't be that cool and yes the FA Cup is bigger and more important but why should that take anything away from the winners or anyone who goes far in the Carling Cup?

I was like WTF? A team in bottom of Championship, knocked out the team at the top of the Premiership.. Wtf was that about? Southend got too much hope now.. That was a one off.. e.g England v Portugal and Swansea v Barnsley

It was very funny watching Ronaldo dive about the place, crying about it to the ref when when he doesn't get a freekick aswell and he looked very average again in this match.

Funny how you single out one player nearly every match. It wasn't just Ronaldo and even though he did play badly, he's performing in the Premiership and for now I'm happy with that. More than can be said for your so called stars.

I know, and if you read my postS you would know that i have critised the few that haven't been performing i.e. Hoyte and Henry.

Yes he wasn't the only one to play badly but he was the guy diving and moaning themost which is why i singled him out.

yeah thats true , when Man Utd won it last season it was `well it is only the Carling Cup ` , the fact is though its a trophy and Man Utd did win something which is more than Arsenal did . I would rather win something than nothing at all ...as the saying goes `nobody remembers the losers` .

See thats the thing there relying on Scholes & Giggs too much 2 players who are coming to the end of there carrerers. It was the same in Kopenhagen aswell.
