Spurs crash out of Carling Cup to Grimsby Town |
|
***
Grimsby's Jean-Paul Kamudimba Kalala struck with only a minute left to send Spurs crashing out of the Carling Cup at an ecstatic Blundell Park. Kamudimba Kalala fired home a powerful right-foot strike from 20 yards to give Russell Slade's League Two leaders a deserved victory. It was a major embarrassment for a below-par Spurs side boasting five England players and 10 internationals. *** What [beep!], how could the lads let this happen, this is inexcusable. Its not like we even put out a second string team here, the line up was: Tottenham: Robinson, Stalteri, Naybet, King, Lee, Jenas, Carrick (Davis 67), Brown, Reid (Lennon 61), Defoe, Keane. That team should have thumped Grimsby Town! |

You failed to mention how Jol, whom I happen to be a big fan of, complained about the inadequacy of his strike force. He really needs to wake up on this one, Keane needs to be playing every week, and not expected to be thrown in every now and than and expected to hit the back of the net. It's not fair to Keane and I'm actually a bit surprised at Jol. Also, I said this back in week 1, Reto Ziegler should never have been loaned out, he should be playing for the Spurs.....

Wholeheartedly agree on the Ziegler bit orange, he is a great talent and Spurs need him in the team each week.
I think Jol needs to drop Defoe to the bench for atleast the next 2 premiership games. Mido is back this week to face Fulham, having completed his suspension against Grimsby Town, and he should be paired up with Keane upfront. Defoe just didnt seem with it at Villa, was walking too much and just waiting for the chances to fall into his lap, whereas Keane works hard to make chances for himself and for his teammates. |

I think its always a shame when a big gun tumbles so early but i do think its great for the minnows!
To be fair though with 10 Internationals they should have wiped the floor with them! |

Only Grimsby?! |
|
I might be the only Grimsby fan to comment on your little discussion, but maybe the fact that Grimsby played very well and comprehensively outplayed the aforementioned team may hold some weight
Well done Town. |

I second that - Fair play to you Mariners!
Hey mate - Try to stick around to discuss further games if you get the chance - Views from true lower league fans are taken very well on this forum! Tell you fellow Town Fans to come along and post the thoughts! |

Re: Only Grimsby?! |

you are most welcome to give your view here ultimate , indeed well done to Grimsby for dumping Spurs out of the Carling Cup . It was a shock though , Spurs are after all a Premiership side and were expected to get through quite comfortably. But then that is what is great about cup football , upsets and giant killing are always possible . |

Thanks! |

Cheers for that
Been a Grimsby Fan all my life and tuesday nights game was the best one i've ever seen. I didn't think anything could beat us dumping Liverpool out of the cup but that was when we were ion a much higher division so well chuffed! If we can get another big team in the next round and then who knows |

I have to say, massive shock that Grimsby won. Fair play to them tho, they're run of form has been good of late. We might just see a few more upsets yet from the lower league teams.
