Rooney Is Dealt His Punishment...... |
|
Man U. striker Rooney_79586.shtml'>Wayne Rooney has been banned for 2 matches following his sending off against Villarreal for a sarcastic clap at referee Kim Milton Nielsen.
The 19 yr. old England international, who recently had his temperament questioned after appearing to argue with David Beckham in the defeat to Northern Ireland, will miss matches against Benfica and Lille. ** With the current injuries Man U. has, this is the last thing they needed............ |

I think thats a bit harsh myself.
Two match ban for clapping? I think the referee took it a bit too personally and FIFA is now just backing him up. Sure it was stupid and unnecessary behaviour by Rooney but the tirades of abuse and intimidating posture (getting in their face etc) that some players level at referees are far worse offences in my book. |

ah, but you never ever disrespect the ref, that’s been a rule of thought forever...for me, not at all to harsh....I'm hoping he will learn from it, a slap on the wrist would mean nothing to him....hopefully this will be for his own good....

well i also agree it is not too harsh , the referee said if he had not already had a yellow card it would have made no difference . It was still a red card offence, Rooney was in his own way indicating that the referee was an idiot or stupid and that is worse than dissent like swearing . Also you are right oranje , Rooney will probably think twice before arguing with the ref again.

Rooney needs to be more disciplined, he think's he's big and hard, he's 19 and needs to shrink his large head not his literal head, his, other one! Gutted that he's goin to get young player of the year or whatever it is, if he was a great footballer AND a great role model as far as attitude and behaviour were concerned, then fair enough!

Yep i agree with that oranje but is sarcastically applauding the referee disrespecting him more or less than yelling and swearing at him, calling him every name under the sun? |

no....wrong is wrong, I don't care how you do it, disrespecting a ref can be done in a number of ways.. If they enforced the new rule for yapping at the ref or the foul language rule, not only would Rooney be in trouble, so would a lot of others.....I'm really tired of everyone sticking up for him (Rooney), he has a problem that needs to be dealt with, sweeping it under the carpet is not the answer, and will only hurt him......Don't get me started, please......Your winding me up....

So no winding up |

appears that way, also looks like tonight we may not see eye to eye on somethings, that's cool.....as the saying goes, it's ok to agree to disagree.....

He will learn but he will always have his knockers because of his quality!
The self inflicted sending off was sheer stupidity but as he goes along he will learn that he cannot press the self distruct button - He cannot change the way he plays because he becomes a non entity but if he curbs the childishness old pro stance then he will be ok - For him the best place is under the watch ful eye of Sir Alex! He will take no S*** |

Yes hes definitely got the right manager to help him with it, cant think of anyone better.
