Justine Lorton scored a hat-trick as Bristol Academy moved i

The former England striker struck twice in the first half, one from the penalty spot, before Steph Houghton gave Sunderland renewed hope with a fine goal. However, Academy went on to record their fifth league win in a row as Stef Curtis slotted home after Kerry Bartlett had struck the bar, defender Emma Jones also netted from a rebound and Lorton profited from a bad back pass to complete her hat-trick in the dying minutes.

With Arsenal and Charlton Athletic each having fixtures postponed this week, Bristol Academy will top the National Division for the first time in their history if they record wins against Cardiff City and Fulham.

Blackburn Rovers meanwhile picked up an important 2-0 win away to Cardiff City, which moves them out of the bottom three. Natalie Brewer gave Rovers the lead on the half hour with her first goal of the season, and Katie Anderton secured the points during the second half.

Thanks for that - I was trying to find some results earlier, but some teams' websites just don't update enough.

Looks like Doncaster beat Bham 2-1 tonight also. Good result for an away team on a Thursday night.

Arsenal LFC 6 6 0 0 42 1 41 18
Bristol Academy WFC 8 6 2 0 24 17 7 18
Leeds United LFC 6 5 0 1 21 7 14 16
Charlton Athletic WFC 7 5 1 1 19 8 11 16

Leeds still unbeaten could be Arsenal main competitor this season.

its good to see the other teams doing well and competing against each other but seriously does anyone really see any of these teams as competition for Arsenal ladies? and thats not saying that the other teams in the league aren't good or don't have good players!

Exactly - have Leeds played Everton or Charlton yet anyway?
It's easy to be unbeatable against weaker teams Wink
