In the Swansea v Newport game, the fourth official had a coin thrown at him in the 32nd Minute, knocking him off his feet, and unconcious. He was rushed to hospital

But how the [beep!] did a coin knock him from the sideline into the pitch, and unconcious

Must have hit him at a fierce speed on a certain part of the head.

This is ridiculous though. A purely pathetic act from one scumbag who lets everyone else down.

I think its an absolutely sick attack on the 4th official, I heard that the coin was apparently fired from catapult which would make sense with the injury and lucky it didn't kill him!

i just wonder what the reaction will be if someone is actually killed one day by something like this ....could the person responsible be charged with murder if caught . They would probably not have intended to kill the person so it may be classed as manslaughter ....not much comfort to the family of the victim though .

Steely, try this experiment, Drop a penny from half way up of Canary Wharf and see how it impacts the ground!

i think it is the fact that someone is throwing the coin from a fair distance that is the key to actually causing an injury . You need to experiment by standing outside and getting someone to throw a coin from maybe 15 ft away and also maybe from an elevated level ....up some steps perhaps . Then i think you would find it would hurt somewhat as it would be travelling at a significant speed ..
