I'm about to hand in my pack for my Level 2 this evening and am a bit unsure whether my Linked Sessions are right. Can anyone give me some ideas for linking my sessions with an attacking theme?

Thanks!

I'm also in need of some help with my linked coaching sessions.

Does the link have to be over two sessions or can one session be interlinked?

For example, if I did short passing in a 4v2 situation at the start of my session and went onto to do passing and support in a small sided game in the same sesssion, would this be classed as a linked coaching session?

Or would I have to do the short passing in a 4v2 situation one week and the following week passing and support in a small sided game?

Confused

Any help would be much appreciated

You need to do FOUR linked sessions based around one area for example passing. The first session should reflect the very basic principle concerned and over the period of four sessions you should be demonstrating that you can design four separate sessions that develop a given area such as passing.

The tutor will look for logical progression and development of the technique and skill concerned.

do the linked sessions have to be over a period of 4 sessions in a row or can you do something else one week and come back to the linked session the week after?

Assuming you do one session a week with the same group then you would have four weeks worth of sessions that are linked i.e. in a row.

How about this.

1st Session and all sessions spilt time into 5 areas for Warm Up-Technical- Skill-SSG's-Cool Down

Short Passing - Push Pass

Technical & skill

1v1 in 10x20 area for about 8-10 mins then progress to 2v2 for 8-10 min
Coach the key factors for 1v1 push pass

Short Passing

Accuracy
Weight of pass
Timing of pass
Disguise of pass

Push Pass

Large surface on the inside of foot-
Firm ankle-strike through the ball
Head over the ball and still
position of non kicking foot

Basic Support Play
Communication
Angle of support
Supporting distance

SSG 6v6 Passing
Coach the Key Factors for passing in a SSG

Coach the Key Factors of Attack & Defence in this case attack in all sessions

Attacking as an individual/group

Create space as an individual
Positive attitude
Good 1st touch. Attack man or space?
Move away quickly
End product. Pass,shoot or cross
Movement and support of player off the ball
Runs

Attacking as a team

On gaining possession create space.Length and width
Support man on the ball
Positive forward runs off the ball
Overlaps
Quick passing and crossing and finishing

Coach only 1 team

Defenders keep it real
Set players up in starting positions
Use the coaching formular in Technical,Skill & SSG's
Spot the problem
Demonstrate what you want from the player or players (on and off the ball)
Check the understanding of the player and players and allow the player or
players to rehearse the situation you have provided
Allow the players to try this live and if it is fine allow some free play and praise
the player or players

Once play starts OBSERVE from outside the playing area Stop play quickly and involve another player.Ask the player.. What can you do to influence the play?Demonstrate to player ( Whilst demonstrating to player ask player to step outside the area for better observation),then let player try if happy with it give FREE Play
Return to starting positions and do again, this time involve a different player, do this until you have involved all players
When demonstrating let the player know what Key Factor he is doing ie (Movement and support of player off the ball)

Review the session ask players if the can recite all the key factors

2nd and 3 rd Sessions

Same as the 1st but too ensure you are linking the session to a theme in this case passing next session is Long Passing (Swerve Pass) and 3rd Session is Driven Pass
Different Key Factors for the swerve pass & Driven Pass but the key factors for the Skill part of the sssion 2v2 3v3's and the 6v6 SSG will be the same

At the beginning of each session review the last session ask who can remmember the Key Factors of the last session.

By doing this you are showing you can Coach a specific area in this case Passing as you have coached 3-4-5 what ever!!! sessions on passing in Push Pass-Swerve-Driven-Lofted- and the Key Factors that make it possible for the player to carry it out.

Hope this makes sense

That looks quite good. When I did my linked sessions I chose defending as there are thousands of sessions to do on ti. My four were -

1v1 defending
2v1 defending
2v2 defending
6v6 defending as a team

I also added in 3v3,4v4 and 5v3 plus other various combinations. In terms of results, it worked greatly for us!!!

Ye,Ive been doing Defending for the last 3 months as we where leaking to many goals
Every session after technical, i go with 1v1 then 2v2 then 3v3 Defending with SSG at end
I dont progress to 2v2 until every player can tell me what the Key Factors for 1v1 defending are,
Once we go to 2v2 same thing again all players tell me what the Key Factors for Defending in a group are.
Same with 3v3 and SSG
Once they know the Key Factors they will do it in a game

I have a couple of players who will shout at other players .....(Close um down while ball is moving,if you dont you are ball watching) ,they are starting to understand that the key factors are done vary vary quickly, and they are realising that they know what there team mate is thinking also.
The main think they have noticed is the game is constantly changing from 1v1 2v2 3v2 2v4 and is only really 11v11 at KO

Linking the Key Factors to the Basic Principles of Attack & Defence

All this is down to KEY FACTORS
