Wrexham manager Denis Smith says he will do his best to keep Cardiff target Juan Ugarte next season.
The 24-year-old Basque striker has struck 19 goals in 35 appearances for Wrexham, but is available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

"We don't know if there'll be a club here next year, but if there is we've a chance of keeping Juan," said Smith.

"How can Cardiff sign him? They haven't got any money!" joked the manager of the in-administration Dragons.

Cardiff's interest in Ugarte brings back bitter memories for Wrexham fans.

After winning promotion to League One two years ago, the Dragons lost Lee Trundle (to Swansea) and Andy Morrell (to Coventry) on free transfers.

"I've lost all my goalscorers here in the last few years and don't want to lose any more," said Smith.
