hi all my first post on here

This reclaim the kop is really starting to bug me, i agree with a few of the things this campaign wnats be it seems that a lot of people that have joined the group dont have a clue waht they are talking about. I'ts obvious Liverpool are a different club from any other and that is quality that the fans are recognised for that, i agree that this new culture of singing easy easy and shouting whaey is pretty lame especially as Liverpool have such a good reputation for their songs and singing for the club and the players.
But it seems that a lot of people in the RTK have got it wrong they seem to think its about where you are from, certain people think that because they are from Liverpool they have more right to support the club. I can say now i wasnt born in Liverpool and have never lived there but have supported them from an early age because my mum did. I have also moved down to plymouth (hell of a long way from Liverpool) and have made friends who are from and support Liverpool but my passion for the club is so much bigger than theres, it doesnt matter that i havent been to anfield for years why should it, i'm a student that simply cant afford to get to Liverpool and then a ticket.
so what im saying is you dont need to reclaim the kop its already OURS but people just need to be taught the Liverpool way and remember what it is to support Liverpool.

I live in Australia and I remember a few months ago a group of English Liverpool fans came to my school to demonstraye their "skills" *cough cough* and they also had to teach us "You'll never Walk Alone" but only one of them knew some of the words and even my mate who supports Fulham could sing it. What i'm trying to say is though they were from Liverpool they didn't weren't the ultimate supporters, I myself have only supported Liverpool for 2 years and I had alot more passion then these lifelong Liverpudlians! I think that its a shame some people make claims like "You Have To Live in Liverpool To Be A Real Supporter". A supporter could come from anywhere, look at Man United's fan base; most of their fans are from Asia.

aussie im glad someone else understands my pain, i welcome you as a new suporter to the club it can only be good for us i dont really think it matters if your from anywhere in the world, and im glad you could associate with me about people coming from Liverpool thinking they are in charge simply because they are from there passion comes from yourself not from where you are.

you too glen you make a great point you could question that because you are paying 200 pounds to watch a game you have more passion, and its a good point to make to those reds that dont like out of towners, but again its not about the amount of money you spend its just about supporting a great team.

Comin from Birkenhead just over the water from Liverpool I consider myself local.

Ive been goin to Anfield for about 20 years now.

Being the club of our size we are always going to get out of town supporters.

There are all kinds of supporters all over the world ranging from the the people (like some of my mates) who go to EVERY game, home away europe, japan you name it they were there, there are fans who live in Liverpool but just watch LFC on TV cos they cant afford a ticket, there are fans who live far away and cant afford travel, accomodation and tickets, There are fans around the world who's dream it is to one day go to the shrine that is Anfield.

Myself, Ive been out travelling (Thailand & Australia) for the last 2 years and Ive met loads of Liverpool fans showing all different levels of passion. i met a guy called Noy in Thailand who was one of the biggest Liverpool fanatics Ive ever met, he was brilliant, he must have been about mid 30's and carried a picture of himself in his wallet of him on his bed in Liverpool shirt with Liverpool walpaper, duvet and eveything, it was his dream to one day go to a match at Anfield, he was mental and it was so refreshing to see how much he loved the club from a far.

As for RTK I dont think they are trying to ailienate the people from outside the city. I think you are missunderstanding the title, The RTK scheme has been long overdue, it needed someone to stand up and say "hey come on this is meant to be the kop!"

For far too long the Anfield atmoosphere on a saturday afternoon has been in decline. It makes it all the more painfull when you attend a European home game in midweek!

just imagine what the club could achieve if demonstrated anything near the kind of support we showed against Chelsea in the Champs League Semi Final week in week out?!?!?

RTK is not against out of town suporters and its certainly not singling them out for any of the blame for the lack in atmosphere, its simply saying who ever you are, where ever your from, if you sit on the kop you should know its traditions and adhere to them and above all else sing your heart out.

I personally couldnt give a [beep!] where you come from, as long as you support the reds your alright in my book.

Come on you redmen!

good post alonso

its not that i dont understand RTK its that others dont that claim to be part of the campaign and try to make people feel not welcome i believe though that anyone who considers themself a fan knows what RTK is about and wouldnt make out of towners feel unwelcome.

Well then that proves not to knock the campaign itself but maybe it seems some people misinterprit what it is all about and you are [beep!] off with them and not the actual campaing leaders.

As with most things other peoples perceptions cloud what the whole thing is actually about.

If you read most of the stuff on Thisisanfield.com written by the leaders of RTW you will see that it is for ALL Liverpool fans no matter where your from. the basic principle being that if your lucky enough to get a ticket for the Kop then you should cherish it and make sure you are worthy of it, in that you get behind the team for 90 minutes and leave with a sore throat no matter where your from.

I dont for one minute doubt out of towners passion for the reds at all but I feel that the reason for some of the resentment and the main difference from a local fan is that they just dont have (and cant have) that local knowledge and feel for the local culture, Scouse wit is something different from anywhere else in the world, you go 30 miles down the road in to Manchester, or down to Chester and you get a totally different attitude. Reds fans from Liverpool love the club, its their spiritual home and its inevitable that they'd wanna protect it.

But its a big wide world these days and Liverpool is a massive club attracting fans from all over the world and The more the beter in my view!

Travelling Australia and Thailand over the last coupel of years there is nothing that disgusts me more than seeing some kid wearing a Chelsea shirt, 10 years ago you'd never see a Chelsea shirt outside of London, now they're growing into the new Man Ure!

Oh and anther thing that bugs me! Man Utd being referred to as 'The Reds' in the media Grrrrrr!!! they are the 'red devils', we are the reds!

Get it right!

Come on you red men lets send Maureen packing at the weekend Wink
